Carpet stains

I have a carpet that shows up every little stain. I've tried the stuff that you shake on and then vacuum a couple of hours later but it didn't really do anything.

What's the best method for removing stains?

What's causing the stains and what room is it in?

JellyPlum · 11/09/2016 19:14

It's a combination of it being a bit old and manky, I rent so can't change it, and an awful beige colour that doesn't disguise anything. There's some various bits of dirt that have been trod in and a couple of drinks that have been spilled and some unknown things Confused I sound like I live in filth now, it's not actually horrendous or anything!

It's both bedrooms that need doing, luckily the rest is laminate.

Have you tried the new vanish powder they have been advertising? It got dried blood and blackcurrant stains out of my cream carpet the other day it was really good. Their new stair carpet cleaner (the spray) is rubbish though.

Micro splitting carpet cleaners are pretty good, ours gets all sorts of stuff out of the carpet. It's not infallible mind you, the massive stain where DH dropped his entire cup of coffee remains 😕

JellyPlum · 11/09/2016 19:25

Randy I triedVanish Gold, I'm not sure if that's the new one or not? And I won't ask about the dried blood stains Grin

sentia any advice on which particular one is good? I just googled and got a bit overwhelmed with choice!

It was the dogs blood , he cut his ear then shook his head it looked like a murder scene

sentia · 11/09/2016 19:52

We got this one. It seems to work!

Janek · 11/09/2016 20:05

I used 1001 stain remover when i moved out of a rented flat once - it too got rid of a blood stain, among other things, in fact that carpet was cleaner when i moved out than when i moved in!

JellyPlum · 11/09/2016 20:22

Thank you all, I'll give one of those two a go and hope it works.

Janek cleaner than when I moved in is the aim, I want no reason to be holding my deposit back when I move out!

Okay - I suggest having it professionally cleaned. It won't cost much and once you've totted up how much you've spent on cleaning products, plus your time it mounts up.

viviantaylor666 · 12/09/2016 11:37

I agree with wowfudge Maybe getting it professionally cleaned would be the better desicion. But even expert carpet cleaners might not remove specific types of stains. I used a cleaning agency for my carpets (link) and the cleaner was worth the price. He got my bedroom and living room done for £60.00 which I think is actually good. Not sure in which areas they operate. I live in Harrow, and got no travelling charge.

Have you tried this carpet cleaner by any chance, whenever my DS spills something on our carpet it always removes the stains.

LauraAlex · 13/04/2021 16:25

If you still have stains that need to be removed then worth trying carpet steam cleaning services. They can help removing any unwanted stains from your carpet, as well as make your carpet look brand new again. I would recommend using Cleaning Express for this. cleaning-express.com/carpet-cleaning/
