Mould in bathroom - extractor fan + duvet problem

We have a mould problem in our ensuite bathroom due to inadequate ventilation. We want to install an extractor fan. Is it ok for the fan to be installed in the ceiling or do you then just move the mould problem into the roof space?

The other problem is that I noticed a little bit of mould on our down duvet. How do I remove this? What is the best way to wash a down duvet? It's a king size so will be quite heavy when wet.

I took down duvet to a local laundrette who did it on a service wash.

We also had a problem with mould in ensuite - and brought a dehumidifier to use in the bedroom. Made a huge difference - we now don't have mould growing behind the curtains or the drawers.

Don't know about extractor fans and roof spaces though - sorry.

All extractor fans should go outside! I have one in the ensuite "going up" but it's then rerouted to the outside wall. You don't want the damp to be pumped into your loft space

In the mean time, open the door between the bathroom and bedroom after showering and open the window widely, this gets rid of humidity.

Duvets: get them washed and dried by/in a launderette.

I have washed my down duvets in the washing machine, then dried them in the dryer. Add a tennis ball (a must!) in the dryer so they fluff up nicely.
