Remove odour from dead bird!

Help! Returned from holiday to find cat had left a small dead bird in my ds1's room. The cat sitters (gps) had not realised! Obviously I've removed the bird and cleaned the carpet but the smell lingers on. Any tips? Thanks all.

Try bicarbonate of soda sprinkled thickly over the area and open the window. Have you checked there isn't any related message anywhere else in the room, such as underneath any furniture?

Thanks! I have now cleaned out and decluttered the entire room and treated the carpet and ventilated. Think it's receding. Now I see it as a blessing in disguise because the room is orderly ready for the return to year 8!
