Ironing board recommendation

I've decided I need a new ironing board...my "value" one from my student days (18 years agoshock) is on its last legs (and is also an odd size making it difficult to but replacement covers for).

As a real grown up, I'd like a decent board - both DH and I are in professional jobs and I iron most of our clothes.

Any suggestions please?

Minky do a reasonably priced ironing board. I brought this ironing board about a year ago and i haven't had any major issues with it.

I have a minky one, it needs replacing but its 12 years old now.

Brabantia. Expensive, but a brilliant investment. Really stable, goes to loads of different heights, good quality surface....it's superb

I agree with Sunny, Brabantia is good, lasts longer too but bit expensive!

I have this one www.johnlewis.com/brabantia-titan-oval-ironing-board-135-x-45cm/p166796. Previous boards I've had have rusted but I've had this one for at least 7 years and no rust at all. Nice and wide and sturdy enough to support my big steam generator iron.

I've got a Beldray I inherited which must be 30 odd years old.

Mine is 30 years old, and still going strong. I think it was a Brabantia, but the name has worn off or it's buried under two or three covers.

I have had a Brabantia one for over 10 years and it's showing no sign of aging.

Buy some extra padding when you buy your new board to make ironing easier.

I agree with others i have a Brabantia I've had it for a couple of years and it's never let me down:-)

My minky one is less than 2 years old and the hinges just collapse under the weight of the iron - not happy

I recommend you don't iron anything. This has 2 clear advantages:

1. You can avoid having to buy an ironing board and spend the money on wine.

My brabantia has done 5 years of light use and is immaculate! Definitely recommend

Well... I have a JL own brand ironing board which has been used quite a lot since I bought it in about 1985. So I reckon if they're still the same, JL's own brand have a lot going for them. The metal mesh is beginning to warp a little bit, probably from my banging the iron down on the surface to shift dirt out of the nozzles. And the paintwork is beginning to look a little tired, so perhaps I'll treat myself to a new board soon. But I will never buy another Minky cover, as the one I bought recently must have been made from polycotton (!!!!) as it has melted. Yes, actually melted.

60 odd pounds for an ironing board!!!! You people have way too much money, go to Wilco and give the rest to the Salvation Army!

Mine is a brabantia, at least 20 years old and I iron A Lot. Still in great order. But buy a huge one, it saves so much time if teavtowels and pillowcases fit on in one go.

Mine is a brabantia and I use it almost daily..although never iron more than about 6 items as I dislike ironing and do as little as possible! It is over 30 years old..wonder if the newer ones are as good? I have replaced the cover a two or three times but that's all.

I've got the Brabantia Titan linked earlier. It's great

IKEA does a brilliant one. Love it. 12 years now.
