New carpet fluff

Well they aren't that new anymore. Carpets are almost 10 months in place and still piling with bits of fluff everywhere. It's only happening in one room but it's the room that the baby spends most time in and is now happily eating carpet fluff Angry. I'm hoovering as often as I can, however the fluff is driving me mad.
What's going on wise MNers, am I making it worse by hoovering?

Ten months is a long time for this still to be happening. What is the carpet made out off ? And is your Hoover a powerful one ? This is dh line off work so we get new carpets quite a lot. They've never shed for that long !

If this is becomming a persistent problem you may want to try this on your capet to remove the fluff?

Ha ha, saywhatmate I'd be shaving the carpet for years. I hoover with an ancient dyson. Same carpet in hallway not shedding at all and both came from same roll.

We had wool mix carpets fitted when we moved in and they shed for over a year. I have been using a rubber bristled brush to get the hair off the carpet and it also brings up some fluff too, so you could try that to get it off. I think Lakeland sell them.
