Ocado Smartpass

I've just had the renewal and it's gone up to £109.
Has anyone else managed to haggle and get a better price? Or maybe cancelled to get a better offer.
I want to continue but the price is steep!

You've been cheated!

We must work this out.

8 years and only a few freebies.

It's not fair.

But maybe they don't think you are an almond milk swilling fattie who eats all the crisps then needs slimming with Slimfast and beauty collagen milk...maybe that's just me. Blush

Twice even.

comebackautumn · 23/08/2016 21:51

I'm in a village though and freebies galore. And samples too, had a full size box of (gross) kids cereal in our shopping last week. By the people who make Yo Yo Bears. DD was excited til she tried it and declared it awful!

HawkingsMead · 23/08/2016 21:54

There must be a MNer who works in Ocado who can enlighten us.

lifeisaconundrumattimes · 23/08/2016 22:17

I never get freebies Shock south west town here. I very rarely even get the magazine!!!

Once an ocado man told me I should be getting a free newspaper with all my deliveries but I only ever got one!

I love my smart pass. I do 1/2 small shops a week as I find it much easier to sit on the sofa after work and do my shopping than trying to squeeze it in during the weekend. I also love their nappies so they keep me loyal with those at the moment.

I rarely spend £75 so wasn't benefiting from the already free deliveries.

MistyMeena · 23/08/2016 22:23

What is this freebie-ness? 10 years I've shopped with them (and I have a Smart pass) and not sure I've ever had one!

Miffed of the South East.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 24/08/2016 09:10

Mead do you buy lots of posh stuff? I'm all for it btw. I'm as tight as a drum but I'll spend more on good food when I'm able.

HawkingsMead · 24/08/2016 10:12

Oh, it's just ridiculous, Buttered I do overspend on stupid shit on Ocado. I buy organic which costs more but I do waste money on non-essential foods (and other rubbish from Ocado) and I am trying to reign that in because it is a waste of money. I don't know if the food I buy is posh or not. we rarely ever eat bread, pasta or potatoes which bulk out meals and can be inexpensive. I buy a lot of fresh herbs that run up the costs of meals and lovely meats and cheeses - i.e. Parma Ham, real parmesan, french butter, etc.

I am tight too in other areas (weirdly tight) but spend too much on food and clothes for the DC. Those seem to be my weaknesses.

I am definitely not paying £109 for a new smart pass though - will be phoning them to ask for a discount!

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 24/08/2016 10:28

It is very tempting with Ocado, they have such a big choice of great things, usually the full range of most products, you just can't seem to get them in most supermarkets. I agree about the smart pass.

WellyMummy · 25/08/2016 00:41

I have a delivery every 3-5 days, I wouldn't cope with a limited window in the week!
Freebies, I get a few, but very few that are of interest to me. Some just turn up with the deliveries and some on one of the checkout pages.
It does really iritate me when the new customer enticements are much better than the overlooked existing customers.

comebackautumn · 25/08/2016 13:24

All new customers get £20 off don't they. Then from then on we all get the same, no?

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 25/08/2016 15:47

Yeah, but we need more £20's off and freebies Grin
They sent me an offer the other week, five shops within a certain time limit, I'd get £10 off, I missed the last shop by two days Angry

wheezles · 27/08/2016 09:07

Email them, they'll usually honour it :)

lifeisaconundrumattimes · 27/08/2016 09:27

Funnily enough I just placed an order and they offered me my first freebie!! I've had birthday gifts etc before but I was beginning to feel short changed. Cathedral city spread is winging its way to me right now!!

Have been with Ocado for 10 years now I think. So I should be due some! I think I do one shop a week of around 60/70 then do the odd top up from our local shops.

HeadDreamer · 27/08/2016 09:43

I tried switching to a midweek only pass but that didn't work for me Sad. I do 2 small shops a week and only just over £40 each. I like the frequent delivery so I don't have to go and get milk in the middle of the week. I got a lot of freebies for a while. Icecream, cereal bars, crisps, sweets, all sorts. They are there for me to choose at check out. But they have stop now. Interesting how they are area dependant it seems.

SoupDragon · 27/08/2016 09:47

I really don't understand this freebies thing. I occasionally had a promotional item but I never ever got to choose a freebie at check out.

I did get my "birthday" bottle of wine each year but apart from that, nothing.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 27/08/2016 10:00

I get the birthday wine too. Always white, which if their algorithms were any good they would know I never buy as I don't like it.

teaandkittens · 27/08/2016 10:08

I just paid £74.99 for a years pass. All deliveries free (except Christmas)

Didn't haggle, the lady on the phone just said she would find me the cheapest deal! I've had a smart pass for about 5 years though.

wheezles · 27/08/2016 11:02

WhoKnows, the anniversary wine is meant to be your choice? I got a link to a page with loads of wines and chocolates on and I could pick any up to a choice of £10.

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 27/08/2016 11:14

Maybe it's changed? Pretty sure a random bottle of wine usually just turns up. I've only just started getting freebies on the screen at checkout too, those have always just turned up randomly in the past too.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 27/08/2016 16:13

Email them, they'll usually honour it Do you think they would. Normally I'm of the thinking, if you don't ask you don't get but might be a bit cheeky, they sent me an email reminding me to do my last shop by so and so date which was a Tuesday, I get mine delivered on free delivery Wednesdays you see.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 27/08/2016 16:19

FGS this is getting worse, birthday and anniversary gifts, what's going on, never had either! I think I'm going to do a strongly worded email.

Friolero · 27/08/2016 16:22

I quite often get freebies. Sometimes they turn up randomly in the shopping, and other times it says choose a free gift at the checkout - have just had one to choose today for tomorrow's order.

I never really haggle on the monthly pass either - just ring up when they say they're upping the price and ask what can they offer and they always come up with a better deal. I might try ringing up after a few months and see if they can offer a better deal again like a pp has suggested.

ButteredToastAndStrawberryJam · 27/08/2016 16:32

I've just emailed them re never having a free gift in two years.
