Miele washing machine or JL?

I am buying a washing machine.
I've always had a JL own brand one, but have seen a Miele WDA101 for £540.
There will be just 2 of us, I do most things on 30 degree wash apart from towels and bedding. I don't want ridiculously long ie 2 hour washes.
It will be in the utility room, so noise factor when spinning not a problem.

Are Miele worth it? It's got a 2 yr guarantee, JL 3 years.

Miele are definitely worth it. Even there basic models are more reliable than most others.

I used to work for Unilever and the testing labs were full of Miele washers. They would be used on various cycles every day. When they got to 10 years old, they were sold off to the staff and replaced with newer Miele's.

The wash times on the Miele depend on the load. It senses the weight of the load so if you cram it full, it will take 2 hours but if it's less than that or a full load that isn't that heavy, it will cut the wash time down after the first few minutes. So you can put the washer on and just forget about it. It only washes for as long as it needs to and only uses as much water as it needs to.

I don't know, but our John Lewis dishwasher is rubbish despite being highly rated in Which.

Miele are supposed to be the best of the best.

However, I have a Miele vacuum and am less than enthused. It has been in for repair 6 times in the last 3 months - their repairs process is excellent though.

I believe JL machines are manufactured by AEG/Electrolux. I had and AEG dishwasher for years and it was brilliant.

The one thing you are going to struggle for is the wash time, most new machines cycle times are longer now, to accommodate lower water usage and the more "eco" use of electric (not heating the water as fast). If you read through the JL machine reviews, one thing that consistently comes up is their long cycle times (although most models have a means of reducing the time if needed).

My FIL sells washing machines and has always said how good Miele machines are. If you can afford it that's what I'd advise you choose.

I would go Miele but the cheaper ones may not have the short wash you want. Mine cost over £1000 12 years ago and has several 30-40 minute options. Check the programmes of the model you are looking at carefully.

Love my Miele appliances. With them you really get what you pay for.

I have a basic miele which replaced another basic miele that I really liked, but only lasted for 12 years. I got some money off the new one, but it is really noisy compared to the old one. The final spin cycle drives me nuts. It is in the kitchen/diner so important. I am probably stuck with it into my dotage .

So I am a bit 'meh' about it. There is no way of knowing if the JL would be better or not though.
