satin Thats great.I hope she keeps it up.You are a great mum.

satinshoes · 30/01/2007 12:59

tort - i'm a crap cook but i think fish, mixed veg, white sauce, mashed potato on top.

yikes for all the poorly children. hope better soon

grouchyoscar · 30/01/2007 13:14

well I managed to weld the pressure cooker shut! Took 15 mins to prise it open. Soup a disaster. Must remember to keep an eye on it next time!

I've
loaded, run Dw
Emptied DW
Put away
Reload with burnt stuff (eeww)
Made lunch
Cleaned kitchen
Cleaned hob
Fed ds
Tidied up
Changed his uniform

Oh Tort Cowboy pie is cheap and makes loads. It can live in the fridge for a couple of days too so it can do the odd lunch or scrape the spuds off the top and use it as a baked spud filling. I remember having 15 quid to shop for me and dh for a week. You get inventive! Lots of rice, pasta, spuds, mince beef and sausages.

Another quick cheap meal is 'Sausage casserole.

Onion
Mushrooms (optional
2 tins of toms
4 sausages

Brown Sausages and set aside
Slice onions into rings and fry (add mushrooms at this stage)
Slice sausages into rings and add to onions
Add the tomatoes (chop if plum)
Bung in herbs and lots of pepper
Allow to simmer for 15/20 mins

serve over boiled rice. Another one that keeps in the fridge and it freezes well too

He's got a hospital appointment in 30 mins so I'll be back....byeeeeeeeeeee

laloop · 30/01/2007 13:26

Hi everyone. Have just spent 2 hours tidying upstairs (why didn't I join you all on this thread ages ago ). Still to do dusting and vacuuming before school pickup.

ludaloo, sorry to hear your lo not well today. Satinshoes, what age is your lo? I have a night-waker here too (although he's nearly two and should have been sleeping through a long, long time ago!)
Tortoise, think ludaloo may have already said it but definitely recommend big bag of potatoes too to bulk out meals, use as basis for soup, stew or as a pie topping etc.

Chloe55 · 30/01/2007 13:33

I used to FLY before I went back to work and since then I have somehow stopped FLYing completely and things have got out of hand again.....HELP!!! I only work part-time and the rest of the week I have a toddler running round but housework is manageable, I just don't ever keep on top of it anymore. My ironing pile is just rediculous and I even got mum to help me out with my washing a couple of weeks ago, only to be in the same position again

I need to start FLYing again. I felt so much more organised and calm when I did, I just don't know where to start again arrrgghhh.

I know, I know, baby steps

ludaloo · 30/01/2007 13:41

Hi chloe deep breaths...It'll be fine Baby steps is good...will mean it might take a bit longer..but you'll get there eventually. Washing is a bugger when it gets out of control! Just keep the washing machine on for a few days!

Thanks everyone...ds is still lying on the sofa....he hasn't been sick again yet but he refuses to eat or drink anything...he's looking very pale. I'm just hoping DD1 is ok!
I'm also preparing for a sicky night! Mattress protectors at the ready!!!

tortoise · 30/01/2007 13:42

Right, I have downgraded Sky to £15 package. That will save me around £18 a month.

DD's not really eaten any lunch. DD1 says her tummy hurts. Both are grizzly and grumpy! Just used up the last of the medised on them.
Going to try and get prescription done for calpol at 2pm.Hopefully i can pick it up when i pick DS's up. Wish i didn't have to take them out.

HazelNuts · 30/01/2007 13:52

Afternoon all. {{{{{for poorly DC}}}}} Hope they feel better soon.

I have DS1 at home as he is coughing and being sick. He is asleep on the sofa ATM.

tort {{{{{ tort}}}}} Hope thing get better soon. I 2nd what Shouldbe said about xp1 should give you some of DSs money you would have if you had them at home with you. It is not like you work and only have them for 1 day/weekend. To me he is thinking about his own needs and not the DSs needs. And you have said he is living with his parents which must be saving him loads of money which you and everyone else in here have to spend out on every week bills.(TV, water rates, gas, electric, phone, etc.) And then he is also saving money when you have your DSs.

You have said you don't like tuna (nor me) but DS1 and DD1 do. Why not make then a small tuna pie. Tuna mixed with sauce (or even a cheap can of beans) with mash spuds and cheese on the top and then put under the grill or in the oven for a few minutes. Something different but making use of of what is in home.

If I had your address I would do a Tesco shop for you!!

Oh tort last nights ? Is probably b/c ? is right next to the button that make keyboard do the caps and top line of keys. (shift button? )

A mum from school (I know) has just phoned to say that she would bring DS2 home from school if I wanted. Ds2 has been worried about having to have his brother coming out when he is not well to get him from school.
This mum works as a Dinner lady. ( a cant remember the right name for this job)And DS2 was telling her aswell. He was ok about this mum doing it so it has been sorted that she will bring him home. Ds2 is only just coming up to 5 and he thinks like this. he has got me crying now. It is really good of this mum aswell b/c she live the other way to us from the school.

I will post my list later. I have not done much on there yet. DS1 and DD have been sat with me watching the TV. Cuddle time

I better go and do some of it now. I wont feel like doing it tomorrow if DS1 has another bad night.

ludaloo · 30/01/2007 14:00

Hi HN

I have a feeling of dread in my stomach
Ds is now asleep and looking very ill....like he is going to be sick at any moment...
AND Dd2 has also fallen asleep...on the floor Its is not like her at all I'm going to have a night of pukey children aren't I

As long as I'm not ill while they are, it should be ok [fingers crossed emoticon]

I'm just waiting for the call from Dd1's teacher now.....

Well I'm going to eat lots of chocolate cake now...while these are asleep..and I'm not ill

ludaloo · 30/01/2007 14:01

HN...hope your LO's get better soon xxxxx

ludaloo · 30/01/2007 14:05

tort could you bear to be without sky for a while?? We had to cancel completely due to lack of money, but you do still get all the free channels. Cbeebies, CBBC, ITV 1,2,3 etc etc....that would be an extra £15 a month...I was suprised but there is still lots to watch.

HazelNuts · 30/01/2007 14:44

Haven't put clean, ironed washing away yet worst job...will put it off a while longer

OP posts:
grouchyoscar · 30/01/2007 16:28

Wow EHM, Shouldbe and HN very impressive lists and everyone else well done

Tort hope you can see an end to it all. Being strapped for cash is bloody awful. I've lived with it as a kid myself. Cancelling Sky is a good move.

Done the hospital DS was as good as a 3 yr old can be. He's really tired now and is trying to make a home in the big basket in the front room

On top of my lists I've
Loaded and run DW
Loaded and run WM
Emptied DW
Put away
Put burnt pan to soak
Emptied WM
Put wet washing to dry
Checked DS for head lice (clear. yay!)

To Do
Put DS laundry away
Make DS tea (leftover chicken paprika stew and rice)
Apologise for the charred smell in the kitchen to DH.

Got to take it steady, my body is protesting so I must listen to it. Big day tomorrow so I need to be on target

Chloe55 · 30/01/2007 16:30

I have shined my sink And had a quick whiz round downstairs, upstairs still looks a bit like a bomb has hit it and there seems so much to do everwhere but think I am done for the day now. I have an hour by myself tomorrow so will do some more before work. Oh I cleaned the microwave too. Just a little tip for those of you who don't know:

When cleaning the microwave, cut up a lemon and put it in a bowl of water. Microwave for 10mins abd then immediately wipe around the surfaces of the microwave. The acid in the lemon juice makes even tough dried on food lift really easily and it smells nice and fresh too.

shouldbedoingthehousework · 30/01/2007 16:52

new wm ordered
It will be delivered on Thursday! Can't wait

OP posts:
satinshoes · 30/01/2007 17:21

welcome chloe. the clutter will diminish over time i promise.

quick pitstop so hi to everyone

laloop · 30/01/2007 17:33

Still to sort the laundry too. It's so easy for it just to sit in piles...

I'm going to make a big effort now to get what's left into machine, fill tumbledrier (again!) and put away everything that's clean and dry.

Then another load of dishes into dw, sort school clothes for tomorrow then will be free rest of evening to watch tv, MN, isketch, yeahhh!

tortoise · 30/01/2007 21:11

Evening all.
All DC fed and in bed.
DD's had rice crispies for tea! Their fave. Better than nothing. Im sure they wouldn't of eaten anything else for tea.
DD1 had a coughing fit before tea and was sick.Luckily bowl was to hand which she caught it in! Im always ready with a bowl with coughing DC.

She has a high temp too. Couldn't get Calpol.Dr wasn't going to be back until about 4.30.Couldn't wait round that long. Found i have kids nurofen in the cupboard so she had some of that.

I would cancel sky if i could. But have no aerial on TV.Can't get any channels without sky. £15 a month will be ok.

Well done everyone whos been busy.
Hope poorly ones are better soon.

HazelNuts · 30/01/2007 22:15

Hi again all.

I have not been having much fun tonight as DS1 has been sick a lot. He the worse he has been all day.
