How to clean an aga

Our oil-fired aga is a mess. It's got spattered eggs and sauce on the hot plates. I read in a book about agas I have to clean them with oil but how the hell does that work? Plus this dirt is so stuck on that I can't give it the scrub it needs without getting burnt. And what do I even scrub it with?

Get someone in to clean it initially
Once done then just keep up to date with cleaning and wiping down

Get professional Aga cleaners in then keep on top of it by wiping over after use.

I use a substance called "astonish" my cleaner told me about it and uses it every week to clean it. All the hard dried on dirt came off. My aga is 22 years old and looks as good as new.

Musicaltheatremum I'm just wondering on which parts of your Aga you use the Astonish and do you use it when it is hot? Mine is off at the moment and I have been struggling to get rid of the grime from built up grease splashes on the black enamel around the hot plates. I found Flash liquid to be the best thing so far, much more efficient than the Astonish. Hope it isn't doing any harm though.

I used bicarb paste left on then scoured off for all the insides of doors and they came up a beaut. Messy job but so satisfying!

get a man in.

specialist oven cleaners, well worth the money .

Your Aga will sparkle like new.
