Someone please tell me which Hoover to buy!

Have a Vax upright pet one which is less than a year old - terrible, has stopped sucking, really heavy, doesn't really get into crevices very well, difficult to do the stairs.

Don't have pets but do have long hair.

I'm thinking a Henry but they're a bit awkward to store (had one in a rented flat and it worked great but loud and cumbersome).

What about those dyson ones that goes on the wall? Surely you have to empty them all the time?

MN review section is full of 4 & 5 star reviews so difficult to make a decision as they all seem good. Current Hoover is an Amazon best seller but it's really bad .

I just want a Hoover that is fabulous and will last forever. Is that too much to ask? Thanks!

dyson stick on a wall is bloody brilliant (unless you have weak / arthritic hands, as the button has to be kept pulled in and needs decent pull pressure). I have long haired kids, perennially moulting cats and dark tiles on my kitchen floor. I have that thing out multiple times a day. It does a cracking job and because it's always just there, it's never a hassle to clean up.

Another vote for Miele. I love mine.

Do you want an upright or a cylinder?
Miele make the best cylinders, Sebo make the best uprights.
We have a Sebo that was passed on from my in laws. They bought it new in 1995, so it's 21 years old this year & still works as good as new. We tried to "upgrade" to a Dyson a few years ago but it was rubbish in comparison.

Well I was thinking upright, just because the hosey bit of the cylinders are a bit annoying to store, but actually our current upright has been rubbish and is super heavy as you're pushing the whole thing around all the time.
I've been looking at Miele cylinders on Amazon and they have such amazing reviews and I was expecting them to be much more expensive. I've read that hoovers with bags have much better suction and are more long-lasting than bagless ones.

Another one for dyson my hubby brought me a Henry because that what cleaners use howeve since I have the dyson my cleaning life has changed it also has pet attachments

It's awesome and it has a trigger rather than a on switch so the charge last really long

One word..Sebo.
It is heavy but my goodness, my Sebo is the business.
Or as others have suggested, Miele.

I get the impression that with the Dyson on the wall thingy you'd need a 'proper' hoover as well? Does it have the capacity/power to do the whole house? Isn't it more of a sweeper for small areas?

Miele. I've had mine for about 17 years. Still going strong but I'm not a cleaning fanatic so it should last me a good many years to come.

Already had a whiz around the living room with my new Miele and the difference is incredible :)

My Miele beats every Henry or Dyson I have ever owned.

I've just got (about 6 weeks ago) a Hoover Cordless. One charge lasts about 45 minutes, it picks up pretty well and is lightweight. I'd buy another one.
