How to clean limescale stained toilet?

It's driving me mad - I bleach the loo twice a week and it still looks stained yellow/brown! It's gross!

Any tips?

Harpic limescale remover a couple of times a week, left over night if poss.

I scrape it off with a teaspoon.

I have a special Toilet Spoon for this purpose. Kept in the bathroom with the marigolds so no one gets confused and uses it to eat a yoghurt.

echo Harpic Limescale tablets, leave them to soak for a long time and probably need to do it several times. When I met DH his loo was thick with limescale, I managed to get rid of it all and when some friends of his visited they thought he'd had a new loo. Nail polish remover was great removing the dodgy transfers on the tiles too

Try it.

Pour some boiling water and a bit of washing up liquid down to soften it and after half an hour gently scrape.

The shape of the spoon gets into the grooves.

I have exactly this problem. We live in a really hard water area and everything gets limescale. I've been contemplating poring a load of vinegar down the loo and leaving it overnight but have been put off by the prospect of my entire house smelling of chip shop for all eternity.

I'm very excited for my harpic, delivery is on Sunday so am going to try the teaspoon tomorrow morning! oh my life is so exciting

Its an alkali, so you need an acid to dissolve it.

Vinegar, lemon juice, coke will all do the trick, but they aren't thick enough to cling to the vertical surface long enough for the reaction to occur.

Harpic for an hour or two will do the trick though and then - before you flush - scrub at it with the loo brush to get rid of anything that hasn't completely dissolved.

I used to use the tablets when it was really thick but I now use a regular application of the liquid. I tried emptying out all of the water and using loads of cheap white vinegar before having a good go with a brush - it worked a bit but was a hassle. I think little and often gets rid of it eventually.
I use a teaspoon to scrape the gak off my tongue in the morning - I think having two in the bathroom is a recipe for disaster!!

Scoop out the water with a cup till it is completely empty,pour on viakal or harpic. Leave for half an hour come back give it a quick scrub and flush. OP are you in London fir some reason limescale seems worse this year.

I once tried the bottle of Coke tip that I've seen in a few places but all that did was dye the limescale dark brown - it looked 100 times worse!

Now I just stick to the Harpic(?) black bottle with green lid - shifts it really well.

Try Kilrock limescale remover, I love it. We moved to a new place with a gross toilet, ordered this from Amazon, worked overnight like magic.

I am in London, limescale is awful ATM! My taps are covered in it, despite using viakal weekly!

I just cleaned the rim of my toilet by soaking tissue in vinegar and then kind of moulding it around the rim and leaving for several hours - would have left overnight but had guests coming. Most of it wiped away afterwards it was easy to scrape off with end of a fork (also stored away

The black bottle of Harpic. Pour a load all over, leave overnight of you can ventilate well then scrub with a brush and flush - will be like new! Tried coke before but it did jack shit

I've been recommended a wooden spoon or spatula rather than metal as there's less risk to the loo surface. Also strongest anti limescale for as long as possible, then attack with wooden spoon. Though DD's boss, they're university halls cleaners, has been known to use her nails - seriously earning her pay!

I have cleaned my toilet! I took all the water out, filled it with a bottle of limescale remover and scrapped it with a small wooden spatula I got in a sushi making kit. It is beautiful!

When you use this you will never go back to anything else. I love it. I have used it in the shower hole, soaked up tissue with it and ripped it round the tap sink,mans plug hole.

With the toilet in might not go in one go. But every time you clean it you will see the difference. Leave it over night.

Harpic worked beautifully!! Three days over o/n night treatment and my toilet is sparkling white (not scraping required!)
