How do you dry knitwear in this weather ?

Have washed some jumpers which can't go in the dryer , too chilly and damp to put on rack outside so have put them on warm radiator on a towel . Will they shrink ?

Our spare bed is currently strewn with drying knitwear...am sure this is not good for the duvet ...

hana · 25/01/2007 12:05

i usually lay flat on a towel - hanging over radiator might put it out of shape

MusicLover · 29/01/2007 12:42

Do you not have a maiden? I have one that you can lie jumpers on flat.

Bettaware sell a contraption for drying knitwear.
Wonder if they sell online???

itsmeNDP · 29/01/2007 12:46

musiclover me too

**For anyone outside of the North West, 'maiden' is a clothes horse/airer

I got lots of funny looks talking about them when I first moved out of the NW

NbgsYellowFeathers · 29/01/2007 12:47

But dont they get lines and folds in them from the clothes horse?

Kelly1978 · 29/01/2007 12:48

I always put mine straight on the radiator, and they have never shrunk.

CountessDracula · 29/01/2007 12:48

I put a towel on the bed in teh spare room and lay jumpers on that

itsmeNDP · 29/01/2007 12:49

Nope, mine don't. I suppose you can put them on a towel or whatever if you were worried about the kinks (but no polys ) in garments

I use something similar to this only mine can be hung up so I tend to hang it in the shower cubicle or above the radiator in the bathroom.

Now we have a utility room I'm considering one of those Sheila Maids for other laundry and could hang the jumper thing from there.

NDP
Never even thought about different names for them. So you guessed I am from the N/W then

MusicLover · 29/01/2007 13:19

LIZS, BettySpaghetti's looks like the best one to me, no lines on your tops either!

BettySpaghetti · 29/01/2007 13:28

It is good.

The one I have is "pop-up" style so can be stored easily too. I've got a feeling it was from good old Woolies a few years ago!
