Why do I need to leave my new fridge unplugged for 12 hours?

yes, it is so the refrigerant settles in the coils at the back.

it is v important apparently

The coolant is a fluid, in those tubes at the back. If a fridge has been on its side, or upside down, the coolant all goes in the wrong places. The fridge needs to be upright and unplugged for twelve hours to let it settle. From what I know.
