Cleaning filthy Karndean kitchen floor

My god daughter has just moved into her first flat and it's a bit of a mess. The kitchen floor looks like its never been cleaned and apparently it's been down for about 8 years. Shock It's a pale cream colour with a soft grey pattern running through it. It looks awful.
We've tried cleaning it with Dettol floor wipes, that's when we realised just how filthy it is! I had a quick go with a steam mop but it's made no difference.
I'm not familiar with Karndean so I don't know if i'm missing some magical cleaning product and am concerned about damaging it. Any advice.?

Mop, mop and mop again. If it's that bad, I'd use a scrubbing brush - with something like Flash or supermarket own version in hot water will be fine - because it sounds as though the dirt needs loosening. Karndean is vinyl so it is pretty hard wearing.

I would steam it to loosen the filth. That's what worked on my tiles anyway

P.s. A before and after pic would make me very happy!

Thanks for your help with this.

We got the scrubbing brush out per wow's suggestion yesterday afternoon. We mopped later in the evening.
It needs mopping again but hopefully that'll sort it out.
For some reason I thought that Karndean was the 'delicate flower' of the flooring world so I'm glad the scrubbing brush worked!

Sorry proper we didn't think to get before pics.

Glad that has worked OP.

This is the stuff for you, use it with a mop and it will clean up the floor.

Ime it's not necessary to use specialist cleaners. Once you have got it clean regular vacuuming and mopping will be fine.
