Hello again...Ds can't have been affected to much by the bang on the nogging as he and I are battling for laptop access rights...I'm winning atm

Tea is made! and luda and EHM Cowboy pie is the name we gave to corned beef pie so DS would scoff it. It's corned beef lightly fried with onions (and celery, mushrooms, carrot, whatever you fancy it's a real sneaky way of hiding veg) a crumbled beef stock cube, a tablespoon of branston, TP and worcestershire sauce. Add a tin of beans (tonight it's kidney beans) put it in a baking dish and spoon mash on top then bung op]it in the oven. Nursery food reallly but it goes down well.

So my next done list is
Prep tea
Load DW and run
Make tea and construct.
empty DW
Put away
S&S kitchen
Take bins out
Wipe table.
Check on DS's Colnel Gadaffi like tent in the front room
Change light bulbs that have gone 'fring'

DS back to laptop rights so have a good evening everyone

phoenixstar · 23/01/2007 16:31

Hello everyone.

I just found the mums net site today, and saw this housekeeping section and all your flylady related posts too! My name's Morag and I have 2 teenage lads and another baby on the way due in May.

I have been a stuttering flybaby for a couple of years now, with much falling off the wagon along the way and have been re-inspired by your posts and messages to each other

My other half complains that I spend too much time on t'internet Trouble is, it is soo easy to get absorbed into being on the net and forgetting what needs to be done at home! I think I may have found a way of making sure I get all my jobs done balanced along side my time spent on the net!
Hoping I can spend a bit of time here getting to know you all, with only a little bit of housework procrastination..

LoL! Ruby...thanks for the welcome & that's what I'm hoping..

I have been getting back into the swing today doing some of the things I know I should be doing and I feel so much better already!

So far today, I have done;

-A super fling boogie
-Shined up my bathroom mirrors (any tips for getting limescaley scum off shower cabinet doors btw?)
-put my towels thru the washer & tumble drier
-emptied my clothes from cupboard and sorted out what my bump has outgrown into bags for the loft!

Yet to do..

-decide what to have for tea..though that cowboy pie sounds pretty damn good!
-empty towels from drier, fold & put away
-empty dishwashe from this morning..

wow..I am so impressed with myself. Those clothes have been nagging me to sort them for weeks now!!

satinshoes · 23/01/2007 17:06

welcome phoenixstar

not much time to catch up with all posts but quickie to say that Dds 6 week check went fine. Both of us are ok. Dr doesnt think i have thrush and to continue b/feeding.

Does anyone know anything about the mirena coil? he recommended it but dont know anything about it. I know a bit off topic but trust your advice.

No more housework done but well done to all of you who've done lots...

EllieHsMum · 23/01/2007 17:16

Welcome 'phoenixstar' I hope you find these threads as helpful as I do. It makes me get up of my lazy behind & get organised.
My dd will be 1 in May.

Satin Glad all went well today with the 6 week check up. Sorry can't help you with the coil question.

Grouchy Cow Pie sounds lush, just up my street. Have you ever had Stovies or Pinnackelty(not sure if thats the correct spelly)?Glad your lo's head is ok.

Lasagne made & in oven, yum. Just about to start Mountain of Ironing before its time to bath dd.

dazzlincaz · 23/01/2007 17:34

satinshoes - the info leaflet with the mirena coil says 'very small amounts of the hormone in Mirena are found in breast milk but the levels are lower than with any other hormonal contraceptive method. If you want to breastfeed your baby, you should discuss this with your doctor.'

There was a thread on MN about four months ago in which there were a lot of negative posts about the Mirena, which really put me off the idea. It doesn't suit everyone - doctor told me it works for about 70% of women.

Congratulations of your Dd - enjoy her babyhood, the time goes so fast when you look back

dazzlincaz · 23/01/2007 17:39

Clarification - Mirena works very efficiently as a contraceptive - what I meant by 'working for 70% of women' is that the doctor I saw said it suited them, others find that they have problems such as heavy bleeding etc.

DimpledThighs · 23/01/2007 17:45

((((((psst - satinshoes - am lurking because am not doing any housework but still check in. I have a non hormone IUD and it has been great for me. I would think carefully if there are hormones in the breast milk from it. There are lots of threads about this in health - but if you want to know more about normal IUD let me know.))))))))))

Jelley · 23/01/2007 17:52

EHM That is me

satin - agree with DT (Also have non hormone coil and love it). Drs always recommend mirena, but I'd suggest checking with FPC if you have one, Mirena seems to be either great or cause lots of problems..
Drs also always say you haven't got thrush- they don't recognise it exists in the breast If you get lots more problems, call a bf helpline. I can redirect you, and also point you in the direction of info to give dr re thrush if you want it.

I've lost my list in the thread, but i think I've done it all except the paperwork mountain. That can go on tomorrows list.

satinshoes · 23/01/2007 17:59

wow. thanks guys.

daz - very useful

DT - my worry with the normal IUD is making already heavy periods more heavy and more painful.

jelley - part of me thinks it is thrush and part of me wants to believe the DR. can you give me the no. of a helpline just in case it gets worse?

satinshoes · 23/01/2007 18:00

jelley forgot to say thanks ref the IUD advice too. are Drs on commision with the mirena then or something?

ludaloo · 23/01/2007 18:00

TORT My Lemon Drissle Cake is going a bit weird! It has been in nearly an hour!! It has also all kind of come up like a volcano in the middle....Is it supposed to do this??? I'm kind of guessing not! I'm so PANTS at cooking LOL!

On the subject of Coils...I opted for the copper non hormone coil...I had nothing but absolut trouble with the darn thing...I bled for months, It actually came out and I had a Multiloader put in but eventually I opted to have it removed...it did my head in!!!!!!

Jelley · 23/01/2007 18:10

Thrush in the milk ducts information for satin

Helplines

BFN 0870900787

ABM 08704017711

LLL08451202918

They are all run by trained volunteer mums, and saved my breastfeeding of ds in the early months when I had problems.

phoenixstar · 23/01/2007 18:20

Wow..thankyou everyone for the warm welcome

Satinshoes...I dont know a lot about coils, except that they either seem to work really well or don't suit at all..and not much in between! I can't have one as I have had an ectopic pregnancy in the past..so ruled out for me.

I found a bit of info on the net which you might find helpful. Don't think it mentions about breast feeding with it though...

www.womens-health.co.uk/mirena.asp

ludaloo · 23/01/2007 18:26

(satin didn't mean to sound so negative about the coil...I have just had a bad experience...I don't think I would have coped with any kind of coil, it just didn't suit, but the everyone else I know who does have one is very happy with it)

ludaloo · 23/01/2007 18:31

Hi pheonixstar

I am half reading the thread as I go along in between dealing with my strange cake and two small children who have a severe case of DMV (Deafness to Mummy's Voice)

ludaloo · 23/01/2007 19:00

The Lemon Cake is lovely! It looks like its about to erupt, but I have a feeling my cake tin wasn't big enough...I need to invest in a larger one.

The kids are now quiet(want to know my secret??)
....Ds had a huge tantrum because he wanted cake and he hadn't touched his dinner....dd1 would not sit at the table and went to the toilet no less than three times! Dd2 added to the stress by quietly sticking her pizza to the end of the side board
(As it is just me here with them again....and I'm really beginning to loose the plot)
I lay on the living room floor and had a tantrum too!!!! (Jocelyn style)
They all stopped faffing and screaming and whining! Stared at me like I was mad...and they have now eaten dinner and taken their plates out!

ludaloo · 23/01/2007 19:12

EHM Glad your meet up went well (I met a lovely MN a few weeks ago too )

satin I'm glad all was well with ds, and I hope your pain goes soon, I would try drinking more, maybe it might help (not sure how but you never know)

taylormama How are you feeling? With a bit of luck you are asleep!

Ruby Look after yourself too...and I hope MIL is doing ok.

Hello to the new faces...nice to see you

And of course Well Done to everyone xx

I'm off to put the kids in bed, and have a bath to see if I can relax a bit....Hormones + two weeks of the kids all on my own from Dawn till Dusk is not doing my brain (or nerves) much good!!!
Single Mums out the I absolutely Salute you!!!!!!!

Oh HN If you get back online and manage to read the threads...HELLLLOOOOOOOO I am thinking of you

grouchyoscar · 23/01/2007 19:54

Welcome Phoenixstar EHM We do panacklty as we call it - slow cooked thinly sliced potato and onions? It's just fab, it needs lots of fresh ground black pepper. We do a version where you put white fish such as haddock in it. Nice if you get frozen fillets as they collapse by the time the spuds are done. Really nice with loads of brown sauce!

The Cowboy pie wentg down well with DH but DS was a bit to tired and defaulted to toast. He gets his tomorrow then.

Finished the day off by

Taking wet washing up to dry out
Hanging it up to air
Bringing a load of damp washing for drying
Empty TD
Load TD
Wash Ds ready for bed
Carry Ds to bed (asleep)

I'm in bed now, DS fell asleep at 7.30 so I can stop Night night

satinshoes · 23/01/2007 20:20

thanks so much guys.

jelley i've written down the numbers - hopefully i wont need them.

ludaloo - not negative - just honest. much rather know about it. you might be right about drinking more too as i only really drink tea

phoenix - thanks for the link - very useful.

tomorrow if DD1 goes to pre-school i will be back flying i promise

JustIvor · 23/01/2007 20:36

Just a very quick post as I've been sat down MNing for half an hour and I need to get cracking again. Yesterday was a 11.45pm bedtime and today a 7pm start.

luda Is your dh still working very long hours? You could come over to mine on Thurs or Fri if you wanted. If it was dry we could go to the beach with the dog. Do you have a back carrier for dd2? I've no plans for either day as yet. E-mail me. No problem if you're otherwise engaged or anything.

JustIvor · 23/01/2007 20:38
