New toilet cleaning issues

We've had a new bathroom recently, which I love but an unexpected issue is that the toilet is proving very difficult to clean. My teenage son uses the bathroom more than me (I have an ensuite, it's not that I'm smelly ) and when he does a poo, it literally sticks to the ceramic with industrial strength. Drenching it in bleach doesn't work (like it did on the previous loo), I have to scrub it with the toilet brush. For ages.

Not really expecting any solutions, just wondering if we've been exceptionally unlucky with choosing the loo we have (which wasn't cheap). It was from Homebase - never again but that's a whole other story.

I needs to clean up after himself, probably too much fibre in his diet too.

Have tried many times to get him to clean up (not just toilet) but fruitless.

Very surprised if he has too much fibre in his diet. He lives almost half his time with his dad so I don't know all he eats but I do know fruit and veg are not top of his list.

We have a loo that's prone to skid marks. I've told the kids to tip a cup of water down the ceramic before a poop which really helps prevent skids.

I'd complain to Homebase and get the toilet checked, maybe the glaze is defective.

Leaving a shitty loo is utterly unacceptable. I'm shocked, really shocked, that you're doing this.
I doubt it would be hard to clean immediately. Show him once, make sure he knows how to use bleach and loo brush and then call him back if ever he doesn't do it, getting increasingly ballistic.

You are not your son's cleaner - he needs to clean up after himself. Possibly tmi but DP left the upstairs toilet a mess the other day. I asked him to go and clean up after himself and he did.

Apocalypse and wow - yep, you're both right, he should be cleaning up after himself. It's never really been an issue before we had the new loo, but he needs to start taking responsibility.

You leave the bathroom in the way your Grandmother would wish to find it for her use. It's only basic manners.

Teach him that before you worry about defective glaze.

Even the most tenacious poo should wipe off easily when it's fresh, ie if he cleans it.

Anyone who is capable of wiping their own bum is also capable of wielding a toilet brush.

Train him to use a toilet gel each time he's been. Squirt round after flushing and it shouldn't stick. I did that with my lot.

Having had a new lavatory pan fitted, I could see very quickly that it did not suit anyone who ate any fibre.

All pans suit those who can, and should clean up after themselves.

I use the Duck ones. Get some of those and show him how to use them. Give a choice either he does it immediately or you'll get him to scrub it with marigolds and a sponge. :) he should then make the first choice!
Other alternative is dock any pocket money.

Just after we got a new loo it got terrible limescale very quickly. I used limescale toilet cleaner stuff, it went away and it's been fine since with regular descaling cleaner. If your loo has a layer of limescale on it then it will get stained easily and be hard to clean off.
But yes what everyone else days, people should not leave the loo in a filthy state.

Quick flush before or toilet roll laid in the pan.

Also got a new bathroom, OH and I suffer from IBS and Diverticulitus, so I know where you are coming from! I think its the shape of the new loos, ours is the Brittan cube very sloping back, depends how old you son is, OH spends a huge amount of time on the loo before staggering off to work, I got some white granules for cleaning the loo. My old toilet I used this loo blue stuff and when the thing was flushed it splashed onto the seat and stained it blue, so not doing that again the seat alone was £52.00, I clean it with a brush after OH has gone to work, and leave some of the stuff down at night.
