Scorched iron

Hello all - I'm in search of wisdom. DH has burned something into our new expensive iron - one of the ones with a huge water reservoir and I can't get it off. Have tried scrubbing/vinegar/salt as suggested online but it won't bloody well budge. I don't want to keep scrubbing in case I take the surface off the plate. Any bright ideas? (Have told DH he needs to sort it but that's unlikely to happen any time soon and I need it functioning)

Hi,

Have you ever tried a iron soleplate cleaning stick before? It's a cleaning stick that you use on your irons soleplate when it's piping hot and it removes any dirt and impurities caused by scorched fabrics. I would look in to something like this and give it a try.

Faultless Hot Iron Cleaner from Amazon (sorry can't do link from Amazon app) works a treat, cleans everything off.

Lakeland have a cheap iron cleaner....it's in a white, blue and red tube and works wonders.

Another vote for Fautless.

I too tried all the 'life hacks'. You need some serious chemicals! A few heavy handed presses off the iron on a cloth with Fautless and it goes.

I always have 2 in the cupboard. Ebay & Amazon sell it.
