As household items go, my steam generator iron has been pretty good. Noticed earlier that the whole of the base unit is getting very hot within minutes of switching it on. (worryingly hot). I've cleaned and degunked it but I'm not happy so it's time for a new iron.

Any recommendations please for a good steam genrator iron, preferably under £100?

Hi Poppym12,

I purchased a Morphy Richards Steam Generator Iron about 12 months ago and it's fantastic. It works really well on all types of clothing getting the creases of out clothes with ease. It's also well within your price range of £100:-)

i don't iron much at all (much to my mother's disgust as she irons bed linen, towels and my dad's vests) but occasionally need calls for a shirt smarter than a crumpled tshirt Sad.
