After reading the fab thread about smelly washing machines I have just treated my washing machine to a soda crystals and zoflora treatment and it's smelling fab Grin

Whoops, posted too soon in my excitement!
Can anyone help, when setting my washing machine going and putting in the detergent and fabric softener I have noticed that if I open the drawer after it has been set away the fabric conditioner is going through at the same time as all the water with the detergent so my clothes aren't getting the fabric conditioner at the right time. Really frustrating. Has anyone one else had this or have any ideas how I can solve it? Washing machine came with the house when we bought it two years ago so I don't know how old it is.

Might be because you are opening the drawer?

DrDreReturns · 08/06/2016 16:04

My washing machine smells so will be doing the same tonight. Where can you get zoflora from?

ThisIslandGirl · 08/06/2016 16:25

Wowfudge, possibly, but I then usually wait until the detergent cycle has finished to put the fab cond in and open it a few minutes later and it's still there. You could have a point though, I clearly have too much time on my hands as I'm on maternity leave!

DrDreReturns, I got it from the pound shop, they had linen, lavender and the floral one Smile

Thanks!

Supermarkets sell Zoflora - on the cleaning products aisle next to other disinfectants.

AliceInHinterland · 08/06/2016 17:55

I read once on another thread that this can happen if you overfill the drawer with conditioner. You can normally find manuals online.

nothingwittyhere · 08/06/2016 18:11

Overfilling the conditioner compartment can lead to it being sucked away too early. Saw this happen when I accidentally poured too much in.

ThisIslandGirl · 08/06/2016 18:49

Ah, I think that's what I have been doing actually Blush for extra freshness. But I guess now I have cleaned the washing machine I don't need to do it anymore. Thanks everyone! What an idiot I am.

ThisIslandGirl are you putting it in the right section? My washer has 3 sections - pre-wash, main wash and fabric softener. When the washer fills, it fills through both the pre-wash & main wash sections so it could be that?

ThisIslandGirl · 09/06/2016 20:52

Rabbit, yes, definitely in the right section. I did a wash today and put less in and it all worked perfectly (apparently that 'max' and the line isn't just a suggestion! I feel rather foolish now! Grin
