Stupid question about washing machine!

I've put the washing machine on a 95 degree wash for the first time ever and an hour in to the cycle, the washing machine itself is hot and the glass very hot. I presume this is normal?!

Yes because the water inside it is hot. It's nearly boiling.

I've never used that cycle before so didn't know if the heat somehow stayed inside the machine. I realise how silly that sounds!
