Where do I get STRONG spray starch/fabric stiffener?

I want to make gauze ghosts for Halloween (fellow Halloween lovers raise a hand!) but all the (US) diy craft tutorials I've seen suggest using several layers of 'strong spray starch' and it seems impossible to get hold of in the UK. Any ideas please? Really don't fancy making my own spray out of corn starch.

Tesco sell Dylon spray starch. Not sure how strong it is.

If you can't find spray starch, making your own is really easy - it's just corn flour and water, preferably distilled, but that could be out of a condenser tumble dryer or a dehumidifier.

You can use the Dylon spray starch in several layer to achieve a little bit more stiffness to the fabric.

Won't be stiff as in not particularly bendy though.

Craft shops sell that spray

YOu can buy commercial "old fashioned" starch that you mix with water and add to the final rinse, about 4 tablespoons in 150ml water added to the final rinse. you can get it from Amazon BUT I think though that you can use cornflour instead like wowfudge said - and that is MUCH cheaper.

I starch napkins, and use the amount above which gives a nice feel to them. You could experiment a bit with a bit more cornflour?

OK experiment partially over.

I took 100g cornflour mixed in 2 pints of water. Dunked in the fabric then spun dry. Take out the second it is finished and leave to dry a bit, then iron. This gives napkins that have that starchy crackle and need to be pulled apart. I think they may be a bit too stiff so next time will use about 66g and the same method - these are stiff enough almost to hold their shape when held up if you know what I mean.
