Urgent help! Fungus?

I've just went into my nephews bathroom and he's got this on the shower bottom. His parents ( who are foreign) doesn't think it's a big problem. He always has a chest infection or some sort but if it's a fungus or something else... Perhaps it's causing the infections.

My question is what's the best way to get rid of this stuff permanently on a diy basis?

It's mould- HG bleach will get rid of it. Long term you need to dry after every shower and ventilate well.

skivvywoman · 27/05/2016 17:12

Yip bleach

GeorgeTheThird · 27/05/2016 17:18

Details mould and mildew spray. Any supermarket. Green spray bottle.

GeorgeTheThird · 27/05/2016 17:18

Details? Wtf autocorrect! Dettox.

AuditAngel · 27/05/2016 17:24

I use the detox spray too

Sativa · 27/05/2016 18:03

Does the Dettox really work ? I've tried neat bleach but it has no effect at all as it the mould seems to be inside the sealant.

P1nkP0ppy · 27/05/2016 18:06

Strip off the sealant and replace with one that has a mould inhibitor.
Scrub the grouting with bleach and tell them to up the ventilation and heating.

skivvywoman · 27/05/2016 18:50

Sativa how long are you leaving bleach on?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen · 27/05/2016 19:10

Bicarb and bleach mixed into a paste works well too, leave on all day but with window open and door shut as it's strong.

Sativa · 27/05/2016 21:38

Sorry for the delay! I've left bleach on for hours skivvywoman.
There's no window in the bathroom so could I still try the paste ?

GeorgeTheThird · 28/05/2016 09:11

The Dettox does work, yes. But I've never let mine get as bad as your photos, so I can't say for sure it works on that amount.
