Where did you find your cleaner?

I have just moved area and we know no one. DH and I both have busy jobs and we're slightly struggling to keep the house as we want it so are thinking about getting a cleaner/ironing lady.

So am I best to go with an agency? I don't know if I dare going via Gumtree! I don't know anyone to ask for recommendations.

Don't right everyone of on Gumtree. As a cleaner I have got all my work from there. Give someone a try from there, or even a few, give them a trial run.

Ask plenty of questions, get references etc.

As a self employed cleaner I would say avoid an agency. They can sometimes change staff often and you end up getting different people coming to your house every few weeks. With a single person you get to know them, and they get to know your house and the way you like things doing.

If your still not sure, put an ad on yourself on Gumtree or in a local shop window, local paper etc and go through replies yourself.
