Oven Pride on hob pan rests?

The box does in fact say "DO NOT USE OVEN PRIDE ON ANY PART OF THE HOB including hob/cooker/oven rings"

...But why? That's why I bought the bloody stuff, it's a gas cooker and the pan rests are covered in a thick, sticky residue. Revolting.

The shelves, on the other hand, aren't even that bad.

What's the worst that can happen?

Does Oven Pride contain ammonia?

I've used it on the pan rests - ones with black enamel coating. Also grill pans, etc. Makes light work of things. I wouldn't use it on the aluminium burner bits though.

wowfudge yes, I didn't fancy risking the actual rings, but I couldn't see the harm in the pan rests - why on earth should they be any different from oven trays?

I've gone for it. It's actually my mum's oven, so fingers firmly crossed...!

Swedish I have no idea what's in Oven Pride. Some kind of terrifyingly effective nuclear substance...!
