Brand new smelly Miele washing machine

Been told by Miele this is normal although I have never had this before with a new machine. Don't think it's acceptable that a £1000 washing machine should make my clothes smell of metallic-oil/enginey.
Very disappointed!
Has anyone had this problem? Wondering whether to send it back?

Mine did that. The insides of the Miele are all stainless steel, unlike most others which are plastic and aluminium. It makes them more solid.
Give a boil wash with nothing in it but a small amount of powder, it'll soon sort it out

Our Miele was like it for a few weeks when it was first installed, so was DM's Miele.
We both boilwash quite a lot (for us its towels and dishcloths and for DM is because shes always used hot washes for her clothes) and it went after about 1-2 weeks at the most.
