Poorly ds. Sad mattress. How to clean please?

Maybe now everyone will understand why I get cross when bedding protectors aren't used.

Mattress has bottom end mess on it. Child too ill to go elsewhere, DD will move out if I put him in her bed, so mattress has been turned upside down with a sheet on to protect the bed base and I've put all he protectors and sheets I have in the house on the bed.

Can anyone tell me how to clean the mattress please so it is hygienic to use, or tell me if not cleanable in which case where can I get same day delivery please that is recommended?

Wash load number four on with at least four to go..

Also, is 60 degrees enough to wash all the poo covered stuff as I'm currently doing 95 and it's taking ages?

If he is ill, I would carry on washing at 95, though probably 60 is fine.

Not sure what to advise re mattress. I guess I would try to clean it with a carpet cleaner, and clean as though it was a carpet, ie mopping with a cloth.

Thank you. I'll keep at 95 as I can't risk this spreading. I'm already feeling rubbish but that could be due to nearly throwing up when cleaning and only having two hours sleep.

We have a wet Hoover for the carpet so will try that when DH is home as I can't lift it.

I've just had a thought re the mattress. You say you turned it over and ds is lying on it still? That might not be a good idea. Can you move him to your bed, the sofa, cushions on the floor (all adequately covered first of course)? It's just that I remember the first time my eldest was ever sick in his cot. I am an emetophobe and it took me some time to summon up the courage to go and deal with the vomit. Unfortunately, leaving it meant it had time to soak in. I didn't realise at first but over months a mould grew on the mattress so obviously I had to replace it. If you are hoping to avoid the cost of replacing your son's mattress, you really need to tackle it straightaway.

Unfortunately I can't lift the wet vacuum that I was planning on cleaning the mattress with so have left it. Would it be worth trying other things while I wait for dh? I'm trying it think where to put him.

Bicarbonate of soda is good for smells.

Stain is covered in a load of bicarbonate. DS not impressed can't sleep in his bed tonight.

I left the bicarb on for hours then DH came home, started hoovering it off and promptly went out and bought a new mattress. All beds now have plastic covers on, soft covers and sheets and I think everyone now accepts that mummy knows best .

DS1 has a headache. Just given him water. Hasn't done anything yucky since yesterday morning so hoping he's on the mend.

DD has a tummy ache and feels sick.

DS2 did have tummy ache yesterday but is fine now.

DH feels grotty.

I feel faint with weird tummy aches. Period is now four days late and I am shattered.

About five wash loads to do and my house still stinks.

It's a nice day where I am, if it is where you are just whack the windows open for a bit and air the place out, that should sort the smell pit. If not brew some coffee, continuously lol!

As for the late period, is this a good or bad thing? If it's good, fingers crossed it's a BFP in the making, if not hopefully it's just the stress of the shitty mattress and AF will show up soon!

I think I would be binning the mattress I'm afraid. Poor you though. Sounds like hell in your house atm.

Sorry just seen you bought one. I have a DS who sometimes still wets the bed. I use those bed mats that stick on. Easier to change in the middle of the night than a big protecter thing.

I have all the protectors we need. JUST NOONE OUT THEM ON!!!!!! Luckily the shop had a sale on so the mattress was half price £175 instead of £350 and luckily we can afford it.

All windows are open where I can but actually I have missed a couple so going to open those now.

DH has had the snip, and I'm 44, so don't think I can be pregnant but I have had pre menapausal stuff plus recent trauma which set it all off, so I'm thinking linked to that.
