How much do you pay your cleaner for 2 hours a week & what do they do in that time?

We have had our cleaner for a year coming 1.5 hours a week & alternating doing upstairs & downstairs weekly.
My DH thinks we need her for 2 hours a week. Would it be reasonable to think she could do whole house in that time?
Standard 3 bed semi.

How many kids do you have?

We have a 4 bedroom detached house and only have cleaner 2 hours a fortnight. (As in she visits for 2 hours, every other week)

However we only have her cleaning 2 of the bedrooms. But this includes an en suite, main bathroom and downstairs loo.

We have a new build house which we try to thoroughly tidy before she visits, also we don't have too much clutter. This way cleaning is a lot faster as there are not so many nooks and crannies and the cleaner doesn't waste time tidying.

Aside from the usual daily washing up after dinner, the only jobs we need to do inbetween her visits are the occasional wipe of the bathroom sink, bit of bleach down the loo, and hoover living room only.

£11 per hour so it works out as £22 a fortnight or around £44 a month. Prices tend to vary around the country, we're in South East.

I have a four bed town house (3 floors). Bottom floor is living room, kitchen diner, toilet and hall. Middle is playroom/office, bedroom and big bathroom. Top is two bedrooms and two en-suites. The cleaner does ground floor and middle floor one week, and the next week she does bottom floor and top floor. It takes her two hours and she charges £10 per hour.

I have a 3-bed semi-detached and a cleaner who comes once a week for 2 hours. In that time she does the the whole house. Downstairs: kitchen (hob, work surfaces, empty bin, sink, hoovers and mops floor), dining room (dust, Hoover, mops laminate floor), living room (dust and Hoover), hallway (mops laminate floor), cloakroom (cleans toilet, mops floor). Upstairs: bathroom (bath, sink, toilet, shower, mops floor), two double bedrooms (dust and Hoover), box room (dust and Hoover), stairs and landing (Hoover). I pay her £20.

I have 2dc, one has a tiny bedroom. We're in the South East & paying her £12.50 per hour. I was ok with that but if she's goingto do 2 hours a week I think she could do whole house.
Big problem with tidying in our house, we are always scrambling around the morning she comes trying to make things clear for her to clean!

We've 4 bed semis and twenty a week for the whole house. Two cleaners come and do an hour each. They come on a Monday so on a Sunday night I fly round and empty all bins, tidy everything and lift as much off the floors as possible so they fly round and get the whole house done.

The reason we chose fortnightly is so we don't find ourselves doing a big tidy every week. This way it's only a big tidy once a fortnight.

Having said that, you shouldn't really need to do a 'big tidy' every time if you have a tidy organised home. I know people are probably sick of hearing about it but I recommend trying Marie Kondo because once the house is decluttered and stays decluttered, you'll have much less work to do! In fact, I am temporarily cancelling our cleaner as we're finding it easier to keep clean ourselves now we've decluttered.

I do think the more kids you have, the more you need a cleaner.

People tidy and clean before the cleaner? What the hell is the point of them coming?! :D

It's customary to tidy up before the cleaner though. The clue is in the job title - they're there to clean, not tidy. If my cleaner wasted time tidying she would get less cleaning done, and it would be done to a lower standard.

I have a friend who doesn't tidy before her cleaner comes and it doesn't look spotless afterwards , it just looks slightly tidier but still cluttered. A cleaner doesn't know where you keep everything so if you've left things lying around, they tend to just pile things up neatly. It's okay, but the end result is so much better if you tidy first.

Then it's lovely, like coming home to a sparkling clean show home

Clients are expected to pick up the house and clear surfaces as required before we arrive to clean.

Our minimum price of £30 only applies to very tidy 1 bedroom or two bedroom properties, usually with just one tidy occupant.

We've got a 4 bed town house and a cleaner who comes for 2 hours a week.

She doesn't do the bedrooms (we tidy before she comes each week and the bedrooms are far too messy to be tidied every week.....) but does (very long) hall, cloakroom, kitchen, bathroom, lounge and both sets of stairs and landings. The kitchen floor is mopped probably every other week, I think she tends to stay a bit longer that week. We pay £25 a week :)

I pay £9 an hour for two hours. Just gone up to weekly from fortnightly. She's coming tomorrow and I should be tidying right now but on MN instead!

I have a 3 bed terrace with 2 big reception rooms. I only have 1 DD though and spare room is only used once a month so she doesn't really need to do that. I also tell her not to do DD's room (14yo) because she never tidies it so it's not fair on her to have to go in there!

So she does 1 bedroom, bathroom, dining room, living room, kitchen, hall, stairs and landing.

Last week I think she ran out of things to do because she also picked up all the litter that had blown into my front garden. She's ace!

We pay £10ph and our cleaner does 4hrs a week.
In that time she does 2 bathrooms & downstairs lol, utility, large kitchen, hallway & stairs, large living room, dining room, conservatory & breakfast room. She does windows inside once a fortnight and usually hoovers our sons bed room only.

We pay £15 an hour. It's only a one bed flat but she comes 6 hrs a week! That's 3 hrs, 2 different mornings. She does do all the bedding and laundry in they time also. We love her.

My dd cleans a 2 bed terrace in 2 hours a week. Gets paid £10ph. Hoovers all, dusts, cleans light switches, cleans bathroom, kitchen floor, wipes kitchen and other surfaces.. Think that's it.. Takes her the full time and more sometimes.

In 3 hours my cleaner does a really good job of the kitchen (incl oven), 2 bathrooms and an under the stairs toilet; vacs 2 staircases, a hall and 2 landings. Tidies, dusts and vacs the living room and the dining room. She doesn't do any bedrooms.
