Vinegar in a steam cleaner?

Has anyone tried putting vinegar in the water tank? I need to clean a mattress after an overnight "accident" and having googled there's a lot of suggestions to use a 50/50 vinegar/ water mix, or to use a steam cleaner. I'm wondering if I could do a decent job using a 50/50 mix in the steamer but wondered if anyone had done it-not necessarily for a mattress?

I would use hydrogen peroxide you can buy it in from the pharmacy counter 3% or 6%, same price approx £1.30 buy the 6% it is better value either will work.

Thanks always....I did see a lot of references to hydrogen peroxide but didn't know where I could get it, but will know again-it seems to be handy stuff to have.

In case anyone's interested, I went with the 50/50 water/vinegar and it did the job!
