How do I get melted plastic off my hob? Help pleeeeease!

It is horribble thick stuff. Tried to scrape it off with a knife when it cooled but it is a thin layer and just doesn't work.

Any ideas????

turn heat on low for a bit to soften it - and scrub with pan scourer!

been there done it - there is an old thread somewhere!
