hello again -

my house is a tip AGAIN

however I refuse to panic and will FLY it slowly.

Managed to do the Kitchen and two loads of washing. (then got rid of the kids and caught up with some work)

Have not looked at kids rooms.

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 17:12

hmm...well I really hope it isn't to stressful for you Ruby (will be thinking of you)

Quootie....yey!!!!!!!!!!!!

Quootiepie · 02/01/2007 17:14

soooo much harder to get going than last time...

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 17:18

thats ok... it doesn't matter if it takes you a while...its the fact that you ARE getting going that counts!

taylormama · 02/01/2007 17:21

hi all - well as a new flyer i am somewhat lagging behind today as have also been to work ... will do cloakroom tomorrow but will go to bed with my sink shiny ....

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 17:25

Only just home from our 'quick' lunch with friends and walk in to remember that I was half way through utility room - agh! Now have to get kids fed and into bed before I can resume work in there and it's at that has-to-get-worse-before-it-gets-better stage...total nightmare. I'm all tired and relaxed after a nice afternoon out, the last thing I want to do is face that wretched room this evening! Still, can't leave it so will have to press on with it this eve

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 17:26

Thinking of you and your MIL ruby x

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 17:30

oh shouldbe! I thought it was all done...I hate this bit...when you look at it and think "why the hell did I start this!!"
Well can you not just shut the door on it and tackle it tommorrow? You might have the umph to do it then.

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 17:31

If you are anything like me...I tend to rush things and just shove things any old how...just to get it done...

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 17:34

sorry...thats not very encouraging is it!

Go for it...have a drink and a think...then go to it!!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 18:00

Dh has just come home early so I'm going to carry on a bit now in the hope of finishing it off. It's quite a decent size room so houses more than just wm and td - there's coats, shoes, boots, kids jigsaws, kids crafts and paints, board games, cleaning stuff, playdough, erm...the cat...erm...spare glasses etc for parties (not that we have many these days!) It's a very useful space to have but we've never really got it organised so I now have the cupboards loaded in some kind of order and coats on new pegs- v good indeed. Some things will have to be shoved back in and dealt with if/when we get the chance to go to Ikea and get some decent storage boxes. I actually don't think it'll take long it's just having the umph to get on with it!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 18:01

....you are always encouraging luda Thank you x

BeetrootsResolution · 02/01/2007 18:06

my office isa bleeding tip - piles of stuff - any ideas?

asleep · 02/01/2007 18:10

yes, jelley, that's exactly what i told him! there's no way i could take it as i don't drive.

DD is still ill. 40C temperature on and off. calpol and nurofen not really helping. and she has a terrible cough. looks like she's not going to school tomorrow. i was looking forward to her going back.

asleep · 02/01/2007 18:15

beetroot, we did the bedroom yesterday (which was so so bad, we had to climb over stuff to get in bed!) with boxes and a bag.

a box for stuff to keep/put in the right place
a box for charity
a box for the attic
a box for ebay
and a big amount of stuff in bags to throw away

it worked really well. and be ruthless. if it's not beautiful, useful/important or sentimental, then throw it!

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 18:18

Hi asleep, well done on sorting your bedroom. I'm trying a similar policy in our utility room and i's really working - if it's not useful, beautiful or sentimental tehn it goes! Definatly the best way to tackle problem areas...I do find it very hard to be ruthless though....

DimpledThighs · 02/01/2007 18:19

shouldbe I would leave it now otherwise you might just jack the whole thing in. Think about how well you have done today -I'm impressed.

ruby - I am very sorry to hear about your mil, especially with all the extra back to school stuff and nits to top it all off! Well when they are back at school that might give you a bit more space.

Quootie GO! GO!

lunamuma putting me to shame.

Me Today:

-WM DONE
-DW DONE
-swish and swipe bathroom and kitchen NOT YET
-hoover downstairs HALF DONE
-tackle children's rooms DOING NOW
-take dcs shopping / swimming to wear them out a bit! WALKED DOG

Had a nightmare of getting to mothercare up to cash desk and having left my switch card at home, was buying stuff for dd first day at school so couldn't not get them so back in the car back home and back to mothercare again - what a waste of time! But at least I have an excuse for lack of things got done today!

asleep · 02/01/2007 18:21

when we sorted out the nursery last year, we had to be very ruthless. and all the stuff to keep was dumped in our bedroom. a year later some boxes weren't even touched so DP said "we obviously didn't miss it!"

BeetrootsResolution · 02/01/2007 18:21

asleep - that does sound manageable - There are loads of papers that need sorting - I have bought some files -

Kids not back at school until MOnday so am distracted - and have big job on next week that I need to prepare for BUT

Will try and do half an hour every day this week - I NEED MY OFFICE FOR WORK!!

BeetrootsResolution · 02/01/2007 18:22

Asleep have you lit candles in your bedroom and made a wonderful place ot be in?

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 18:22

Have to press on now (if I could just get off the computer!) I have a HUGE list of back-to-school jobs to do tomorrow as well as lots of other jobs to make up for a day spent in the utility room today....

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 18:30

Aw thanks shouldbe...its nice to know

Lazylou...sorry...just noticed your post...what exam is it you are doing??
Hope it went ok anyway!

asleep does your dd have this cold/high temp type bug? hope she starts to get better soon.
My kids don't go back til the 9th! They are driving me crazy!

ludaloo · 02/01/2007 18:38

Be ruthless beetroot chuck out anything you really don't use or haven't used for a while.
Lots of magazine type files are handy...do you know the ones I mean..that books and paper work can stand upright in. (I have a couple of these in the cupboard upstairs which contains all housey type paper work...mine are actually home made out of cereal boxes ...you just cut one edge off and then you can stand files in them)

Quootiepie · 02/01/2007 18:46

DH came in and told me off - he said I should have waited until after dinner

emptied sink and will re-start after dinner

shouldbedoingthehousework · 02/01/2007 19:37

yippee! yippee! yippee! utility room is DONE! my daily list will hopefully only say "maintain tidiness of utility room" from time to time

Only 2 smallish boxes of "stuff" to sort through - one is mostly holiday bits and pieces which just need to be stuck in a scrapbook by dd and me over the weekend, and what the other is God knows...all sorts of little bits and bots that I almost just emptied straight into the bin but then paniced in case there was actually something important amongst it! Will sort through it soon. SO nice to be able to walk straight to wm and td without treading on/over other stuff on the way!

Off to make supper for dh now.
