I hate cleaning the bathroom!

I find it the worst job in the house. I end up leaving it and leaving then having to do the mumsnet trick of cotton wool and bleach on the mould.

However I do want to get better at it. Can you help with how often, best products, etc?

Meh don't we all! I am not super good myself but tend to do a full clean twice a week, then little wipe arounds every day/other day. Clean the toilet with a toilet duck thing normally (I hate toilet brushes) then stick bleach down once a week. In terms of cleaners I use whatever is on offer for a normal cleaner. If I have a bit of a buildup I use dettol mould and mildew remover. Dettol anti bac wipes for the toilet. Vinegar and water mix on the shower screen. Also squeegee every time anyone showers.

I find it easier and less time consuming having cleaning wipes (antibacterial) and wiping over e.g the toilet everyday and the sink etc. got the block flush things in the toilet to freshen on every flush although I clean daily with bleach anyway. then it's easier to do more throughly on a weekly basis cleaning the full bathroom. viakal is very good for limescale around taps, plugs etc. other than that just a general bathroom cleaner does the job.

I find regular wiping down of the bathroom is the key. I think the worst thing you can do to let bathroom grime and mould to build up. Regular wipe over means that when it comes to a big clean its more of a breeze. Every morning i will wipe over the basin and the loo seat and flush handle. I put bleach down both the loo's two or three times a week to keep on top of germs too. I wipe over the bath after either i or ds have had a bath. I spray down the shower cubicle with mr muscle bathroom cleaner after i have had a shower and just leave it. I also open the window after shower or bath. Ventilation is key when it comes to provide mould. Cleaning products i use mr muscle bathroom cleaner for surfaces, bleach for the loo normally domestos, i use flushable wipes for daily wipe over the loo, and use white vinegar with tissue for windows/mirrors/shower screen which is a tip i got off Kim & Aggy tv show a few years back but works brilliantly. For the floor i squirt some domestos into the mop bucket. After cleaning i buff over the taps with a towel to make them shine

I agree, little and often. I hate cleaning my shower though so I do tend to put it off until I have to :( It's not old but when we moved in it was all mouldy and I've never been able to get rid of all the black marks.

I have one of those ridiculous basins (that sit on top of the unit) and a ridiculous modern tap - the water splashes the mirror and everything else around it. A right pain. I wipe round every day or so most of the time and two minutes later it is all splashed again.

Cannot wait until the time comes to put in a new bathroom.

One of those e-cloths (for showers/baths) is handy for shining chrome, and also wiping down shower after squeegee-ing it.

Re loo, I don't put product in every day. Only one male in this household who is very well-trained so I don't think it needs it. A couple of times a week it gets a squirt of something and I clean it. Not very eco but agree that wipes are great for quick and easy cleaning.

I also use floor wipes for cleaning the floor around the loo. Extremely quick.

I just do a whole clean once a week we have those coloured things that go in the toilet water tank to keep it clean though.

It's my favourite job is the bathroom! I love cleaning it, it's so quick and looks sparkly clean after 15 minutes.
Now hoovering on the other hand...

I like cleaning the bathroom too. I'd rather clean the loo than do the hoovering. Hoovering really annoys me for some reason.

The key is definitely little and often.

Every night take a flash wipe and do the basin and loo. Takes 30 seconds. Job done.

For shower give it a proper scrub and then use a product called rain X. It is a car valeting product used for car windscreens and makes the water just bubble and roll straight off. Spray it all round the shower tiles and screen and then rub off with a cloth like when you do the windows. Then when you next have a shower, after you are done rinse walls and screen off with hose and spray shower shine all over and leave to dry. You will have beautiful streak/water mark free shower.

Best idea is to time yourself

Work out how much time you spend thinking about doing v how much time it takes!'

Then you'll know how much free time you have without worrying about it

Other issue is my bathroom doesn't have a window. Any tips on stopping mould building up?

You'll need to fit an intermittant extractor fan connected to the light switch with a overrun so that it carries on working for a while after you have left the room.

Dulux bathroom paint. Though I bought it 6 months ago and dh STILL hasn't painted. But someone in work recommended it.

I purchased a steam cleaner a few months ago and it's wonderful for grout and tile and the type of surfaces in a bathroom.

Also use isopropyl alcohol as a germ-killer instead of bleach etc. - it also does a good job on mirrors, shiny surfaces etc. Keep a spray bottle underneath the sink and spritz it around at least once a day to do a wipedown. I use regular dishwashing liquid in the tub - it cuts soap residue handily and is not harsh - a little baking soda sprinkled in as a grittier cleanser, occasionally, and mine sparkles.

Some people find it easier to give the tub/shower a scrubdown while they are in there already for their own bathing, you might allocate 3-4 extra minutes and take a scrubber sponge in with you.

I agree little and often. Really just a daily sink wipe and a quick wipe with an anti bac wipe of toilet and swill with bleach or toilet cleaner is enough. Then once a week give the tiles and bath a rub with a scourer and sone bicarb of soda. I think most people need to do the black trick on grouting every so often, unless you dry down the grouting every day . Life is too short though.
