My lovely lilac candle has made a real mess of my sandy coloured thick rug by leaking from a shelf onto the rug...any ideas on how best to remove it please? I have taken the excess off with a knife and vacuumed, but doesn't wanna come out.

piece of paper towel between iron and wax then use iron (medium heat?) with a paper towel in between to slowly melt and lift wax - wax will stick to paper towel. If there is a lot of wax, it may take a while and a few sheets of paper towels.

What tortoise said and brown paper also works.

Wow, thanks very much Isaw and Ledodgy, it worked a treat! The rug looks good as new now, no sign of wax at all! x
