Which vacuum cleaner for tiled/wooden floors?

Only have a few rugs; the rest is tiled and wooden flooring.
Any recs?

Currently have a Henry which I could cheerfully throttle as it's heavy, cumbersome, falls over all the time.....and more importantly, I think it just pushes the dirt around rather than hoovering it up! I also have a bad back which the Henry does not help.

No pets. Two small kids. A very open plan house which means that it needs vacuuming every day in theory.

I only have carpet on my stairs, wooden and tiled floors throughout. 3 DC, 2 cats, and a dog. We have a dyson handheld multifloor. It's great for a 'grab and hoover' sesh, but for more intense muck I have to sweep first because it gets clogged fairly easily. DC love to help though because it's so light!

We have wooden and stone floors downstairs and carpet upstairs. our ancient Dyson died and we bought an AEG which was over £300 and fell apart within a year. Then we bought this and it's a total bargain. We have no pets and only one child so not a messy house but it does a great job I've been really impressed with it. Best of all it's super light and can be carried with one hand which is great for going up the stairs

If you have mostly wood and tile, you definitely need a cylinder. Uprights with rotating brushes will scratch the floors and make any larger bits scatter.

Have a look at Miele cylinders, they're great. You won't need the Cat & Dog or any of the high end models because you've only got hard floors to mostly clean.

It's brilliant on all floors esp hard ones.
Light and easy to carry. Cordless with rechargeable battery.
Depending on how much hoovering you do in one go, it runs out of battery after 20 minutes on highest suction, longer on lower settings.
