Can I put tumble dryer under the stairs?

I would love a tumble dryer but our kitchen is too small. I think I have a few options. I could put it in outbuilding, under the stairs or in a spare room. At the moment my preference is under the stairs as it's closer! Would I need a condensor dryer? That means I would only need a plug right? No need to vent or anything, just empty out the water? How often do they need emptying and is this easy to do? Are they any good? Thank you all!! :)

I have a condenser in a big cupboard, yes you only need a power point, if it's a cupboard tho I think you should leave the door open when it's in use. I only have to empty the water tank about every 3 or 4 uses, but my washing machine has a fast spin so I don't think it's that wet to start with.

I have a condensing dryer and depending on the amount of space, May not consider under the stairs suitable. It needs emptying regularly and gives off a huge amount of heat. Mine is sited in a utility room and always keep doors open to provide ventilation.

Ps I wouldn't live without mine !

I have one. Opted for a heat pump condenser to reduce the amount of heat/steam it gives off (the electricity meter is under the stairs too) and it's great. Heat pump dryers are more expensive, but worth it.

The TD at work (I'm a nanny) is in a cupboard but the cupboard has to be left open when it's on or it overheats, it gets really hot! not sure how that would work under the stairs? It's a wonderful machine though.. Couldn't be without it this time of year!

We had a condensing drier and it was wonderful (Bosch) I don't think there'd be a problem having it under the stairs as long as you didn't also fill the space with coats etc.

I emptied it after every cycle but it probably didn't need it.

If under the stairs and not boarded in, it should be fine. I agree to go with a heat pump condensing dryer, they are so much cheaper to run.

We have one beneath the airing cupboard shelves in downstairs loo. As pp said you just have to make sure you leave doors open etc when it's running. Never had any issues.

Ours is under the stairs, huge cupboard. We hang stuff on hangers that can't go in the drier in there and the heat it gives off dries those too. Leave the door ajar though.

Hmmm maybe not a great idea for me, we keep coats under there and its quite a small space with a very cold outside wall. But I want one!!!

If its an outside wall, you can vent to outside. That's the best option I'd have thought.
