AH!!!!!!

Missed the squiggle off the end!

Well I don't think I'll be dusting very much but certainly do need to tidy!

Hope you all had a wonderful day yesterday.
I had a very good day...kids were brill, dh was soo lovely all day, dinner was yummy..very nice day!

Right off to try and do a redirect link!

God...I even managed a redirect link!!!
And to think all this time Links have seemed like some strange cyber mystery only clever people can do!!!!

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 09:25

Congrats Luda! I am still a link virgin...will have to give it a try soon....

Glad you had a good day yesterday - we all did here too. The children were great (despite a 3.15am wake from dd and hardly sleeping from tehnn till 7 when we gave in and let her wake ds so they could start unwrapping!) They loved all their presents and we've had lots of fun playing with them together. They were in bed early-ish so dh and I had time to spend together in the evening too.
No FLYing was done other than loading/unloading dw. Managed to get the house looking so nice and tidy on Christmas eve that it was easy to keep it tidy yesterday- hooray! All thanks to the help of these FLY lists, thanks everyone x
We have PIL coming today but thankfully they're not staying overnight again so I expect they'll have gone by 8ish. Then my brother and SIL arrive for 5 days tomorrow so I'll need to give the spare room a quick once over in the morning and make up the bed etc.

ludaloo · 26/12/2006 09:34

hi, glad you had a good day!
Have fun with your family. We have dh's youngest sister comming to stay with her dp and ds in the new year....so I have plenty of time to clean up!
We were up at 5am yesterday...dd1 came in all upset because her nose was blocked. She then remembered what day it was and woke the whole house up!
Dh got up and fetched the stockings, and then sorted the fire out while the kids opened their stocking pressies in our bed. We all then went down stairs and they were sooooo excited!
Ds got a drum kit (eeek)
Dd1 got a keyboard
Dd2 got a ball pit and lots of balls!!
(amoungst other things)

We have a huge pile of boxes ready to go out for the binmen!!!

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 09:45

Our two both got guitars! Music and singing and dance all day - dd's dream come true! They had the main things they'd asked for and then lots of other bits and pieces...the odds and ends have been by far the most popular and dd is amazed by how Santa can guess what she likes so well! It's v cute, they're the perfect age this year and have been completely caught up in the magic.

ludaloo · 26/12/2006 10:09

Aw music all round shouldbe
I know what you mean about the magic of it all...it has been magical here too.
I am not looking forward to the year the magic wears off! (The Polar Express was soooo magical! I hope the bells always ring for my lot.)

Well ds got a personal tape player (ELC type one)and dd1 got a personal cd player(posh looking pink Alba one)from SIL. Only trouble is we don't have any tapes for ds..and only my/dh cds for dd1 so I might send dh on a mission today to go find some suitable childrens tapes/cd's. He has to go to work today so he will have the car, so he'll have to do it!

I've loved Christmas this year - it's always a difficult time for me as I miss my mum loads (she died when I was a teenager) and she always made christmas special for us. But this year has been fun. I've just realised that I didn't go to the cemetary yesterday as I usually do on Christmas day and although I feel a little guilty about it I also think it's a good thing...I did remember my mum and think of her but didn't even think of going to her grave - and I'm sure she wouldn't have wanted me to either, she'd rather be rememebered as I spend time with the kids etc... Do feel a little sad and guilty for not going though....

On a brighter note - I bought a little packet of bells and scattered them around the house for the kids to find on Christmas morning - dd thinks Santa dropped them through a hole in his pocket! Sweet!
Shame you don't have the right things to play in the tape/CD players Luda, I hope your dh finds something.

Dh is arguing with the kids over eating their breakfast so I think i'm going to lurk upstairs a little longer and stay out of the arguement...I won't rise to the kids messing around today!

ludaloo · 26/12/2006 10:33

Aw shouldbe I'm sorry to hear about your mum. How old were you?
I was 14 when my mum died. She was cremated and scattered so I don't have a grave to visit. (Its a long story but sadly I don't miss my mum...too many bad memories)
I do however try to be all my mum wasn't and make christmas wonderful for my little peeps.
I think they had a good one

OP posts:
ludaloo · 26/12/2006 10:34

p.s...the bell idea is a lovely one!!!!

OP posts:
shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 10:55

I was 16 when she died from breast cancer.... Sorry about your mum too - the bad memories and so on. You're obviously doing a great job with your lo's though despite the hard example from your mum...
My mum had a hard time with v bad bouts of depression which I have found really hard understand (then and as an adult) until the last few years when I've been drepressed on and off and am suddenly finding I have a lot of respect for how she coped with everything. She was a great mum despite all that and always made an effort for us at important times....

I was chuffed to bits with the bell thing- it was a last minute idea and dh thought it was silly but it was the highlight of dd's day!

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 11:11

PIL due any minute! Wish me luck! I'm a bit of a disappointment as DIL's go....don't bleach my kitchen cupboards regulary enough or cook gourmet suppers for dh ready when he comes home from work....

ludaloo · 26/12/2006 11:20

I'm sorry to hear that, a good friend of mine lost her mum to breast cancer, I don't know much about the illness but I know how devastating it can be. Depression too, I didn't understand much about this either until recently. Its a hard thing to cope with and to those that don't understand it, is awful, as it is a very personal illness(IYSWIM).
My mum was an alchoholic. I guess that can be classed as an illness too, but as a child I found it very hard to deal with. She just seemed violent, selfish and unreasonable. She made all our lives unbearable. She cheated on dad, left him thousands of pounds in debt and made my brother and I miserable.
I can sort of understand she was addicted and needed help, but from what I can remember any help was rejected. I am just left with memories of embarresment, fear and sadness.

AW GAWD! Not very light hearted for a house cleaning thread!!! My apologies!!!!!
I just get on one and theres no stopping me!

Right well...better go and do some tidying! I've been on and off here all morning!!!!!

OP posts:
ludaloo · 26/12/2006 11:21

Oh...good luck!!!!!!!!!!

Wipe some bleach around...they'll never know the difference!!!!!

OP posts:
shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 11:24

Sorry about all that Luda...you must've had a difficult time. But like you say, enough for today...let's get on with the here and now and have some fun!
I've just shined my sink and sprayed some fruniture polish about the place so at least the illusion of some housework is there! Have a good day, see you later I expect x x

IvorthePolarExpress · 26/12/2006 11:32

Hello shouldbe and luda. Glad you had a good Christmas.

I understand what it's like to be missing those who have passed away. I live far away from where my parents ashes are buried - well, a couple of hours - and it's hard to get to, too.

luda I know next to nowt but I think people who are alcoholics have to make the decision for themselves to get over the addiction and if you think of it like that, perhaps your Mum didn't get to that stage before she passed away. It would have been great if she hadn't had it at all of course, but that's life unfortunately. I don't know if that helps in the slightest. Hopefully it doesn't make it any the worse.

Well, yesterday I hoovered almost the whole house as lunch was being cooked by others. Today I want to finish stripping the beds, then putting them in the wash and we're out for lunch so I need to find what I'm wearing pdq.

Enjoy the rest of your Boxing Day.

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 26/12/2006 16:13

Hiya

This thread seems to be a luda and shouldbe thread, lol Glad you both had a good day yesterday. You both lost your mums yet both feel so different about it. My thoughts go to both of you. My mum was shite yet mum step mum (HNtree) is just so great.
{{{{{{to you both}}}}}}}

luda, could you get some Cd's and then copy them onto tapes, you could even down load some music and the copy onto Cd's and then tapes. As long as its only for your DC use, then you will be ok with copyrights etc.

Ivor You done the hoovering yesterday !!! It was suppose to be a non FLYing day!! lol
Hope you enjoyed your lunch out today.

My day is much like yesterday.Dc are still not right. No sickness but they are so very tired all the time. No go in them They are all drinking and eating a little. NHS direct said to keep an eye on them. (they have not got high temperatures)and as they are drinking they should be ok. She said some of it might be b/c of the come down from them being excited before Xmas and have got very tired from that and now their bodies are saying to rest. I said "what all 3 of them at the same time?" And she said "yes" There are many children that are like my 3 Dc. I just have 3 in the same house. Its most likely b/c they have all had the bug at the same time so they are like they are now. She said to let them drink plenty (some milk with sugar in as well)and eat sugary things to help build up their energy.

DD is a little brighter this afternoon and is playing now. So I hope they will start feeling much better over the next 2 days.

I hope everyone else are having a good Boxing Day.I`m going to make some chocolate brownies now. I know the DC love these so they should eat then.

ludaloo · 26/12/2006 16:55

Hi Ivor Thankyou for your thoughts, I hadn't looked at it that way...I don't know whether she would ever of got to the point where she could do anything about it, she didn't have long to go anyway...liver was very badly damaged and a wrecked marriage and miserable kids didn't seem to make her want to stop...she fell asleep drunk one night with a cigarette and the house caught fire. Luckily my brother was at his girl friends and I was at dads. I'll never know if she would of got to the point of actually wanting to quit...but it doesn't do to dwell!!!!!!

You are doing well! I haven't managed to get much done today....got another chuffin migraine this morning!
Glad you had a good day yesterday! Lunch cooked for you sounds great!

HN Hello...I never seem to be on here while you are around! Glad you had a good christmas. I'm also glad you have a wonderful HNTree!!
I'm sorry your dc are poorly still, mine are not great either. DD1 is asleep on the sofa, dd2 is asleep on my knee and Ds is upstairs playing with his toys (he's feeling better it seems!) They sound like my three..high temps and cold symptoms...mine have all got hacking coughs too.

Well I have spent the last half an hour making a list for the NEXT sale...they are phoning tommorrow so I can get in before the sales....there are pages and pages...and my head hurts even more now!!!

Well Dh wants the computer now.....
shouldbe hope you have a good evening and of course a good week with your brother

See you tommorrow xx

Thank you

HazelnutsRoastingOnAnOpenFire · 26/12/2006 19:57

luda xp2 used to put Cds onto tapes so he could take them in the works van.

I made the choc brownies and the DC love them. They had custard with choc brownie cake. Took there time eating it, but they did do well.

All had a bath, (I put their PJs in the TD to warm them up before they put them on ) Then we all sat on the sofa and watch Santa Clause 2. Even DD was happy to sit and watch the whole film.

The 3 of them now are in their beds with their teddies and are sleeping. I hate seeing them ill, but they are also sooooooo cute, loving and very cuddly when they are feeling ill. Always know when they are feeling better as they then get hyper again. lol

Hope everyone have had a good day today.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 26/12/2006 20:25

Hello. PIL have just gone (finally!) my father and step mother called round for some Christmas cake at tea time too so we had quite a house full by then! We had a good day...I tried hard not to let the PIL annoy me and have managed pretty well all things considered. The kids were really tired so went to bed a little while ago - although dd is still shouting occasional snippets of news down the stairs to us!

I hope everyone has had reasonable days despite having so many poorly children - what a shame they're not well. We've been very lucky with illness so far this winter (touch wood!)

We have my brother driving across Wales to us tomorrow - he'll be here early afternoon I expect and then using our house as a base while he swans about visiting other friends locally - I'll probably just be expected to provide food at the beginning and ends of the day (and he eats loads! It'll be fun though, we always have a laugh with him and my SIL.

Right, had better go and tidy away some of the days mess - the PIL completely spoilt the kids again so there's double the toys in the house now than there were this morning!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 26/12/2006 22:02

Evening all.
Quiet lazy day here! Played games with DD's and watched TV! Also did a bonfire to get rid of all the boxes and paper.

DS's just going to bed! We have been playing Buzz Junior on PS2.Its great fun.

Ive eaten far to much choc again today.
Sorry your DC still not right HN. Hope they pick up tomorrow.Have you given any Calpol? That might perk them up a little.

IvorthePolarExpress · 26/12/2006 22:22

Just a quickie.

Sorry to hear what happened to your Mum luda. How lucky that you and your brother were both out of the house at the time. I don't know what else to say. I'm sorry that you had to go through all that you did.

HN We had a lovely lunch, thanks. I hope your children continue to get better daily.

shouldbe Wales seems to be a popular place then, with your brother crossing it and luda and I living here!

I've done a couple of hours of ironing tonight so I've made a start on the huge ironing pile. We're away later this week so I'd better do lots more tomorrow or we won't have any clothes to take. I must go and get things done so that I can have an early night. See you tomorrow!
