Tumble dryer timings... How long..

I bought a new tumble dryer in October. I think compared to our old one it takes way to long for it to dry stuff. For example towels wont dry for a full cycle in it and has to go on again.

How long does everyone elses machine take for a normal load and towel load please?

50 minutes for everything here.

Is your new dryer a condenser? Condensers always take longer than vented dryers

My drier takes 1-2 hours depending on the load. I figure the longer it takes, the gentler it is on the clothes, which is fine if not in a hurry.

Can you adjust it at all? I've seen reviews on John Lewis where customers have had to fiddle with them.

Failing that buy a second hand spin dryer, 5 minutes in that will make drying times faster.

Towels take 3 hours + a regular load about 2 hours. Yes it is a condenser but we have had that before without needing that much.

Mines a condenser and certainly doesn't take that long. Mines about 90 mins for a heavy load of towels. How long have you had it? Could the filters need cleaning or the condenser unit need cleaning? What brand is it?

Have you got it on the right setting.

My new one has too many lots of different drying programmes.

Is it a heat pump condenser?.

About 90 mins here also and its a condenser. Has it been like this since you got it?

its John Lewis own brand and yes it is on the right setting (also has to many programmes I agree but one is heavy so towels go in on that) Yes been like that since we got it.

My towels dry in 40 minutes

A full load from our washing machine is 8kg so it takes around 1hr, 40 mins to get it all dry, whether that's clothes or towels.

That's normal for a heat pump condenser, mine is the same and I have had the engineer out to query the time.

Apparently he has had loads of queries from owners of the newest style of dryers, they take ages! It is annoying I agree though running costs are low.

Have. You tried the instructions on page 21 of the manual?.

Think we have the same machine, OP. It can take hours. I only really use the Heavy Cotton and Cupboard Dry settings. Make sure you clear all your filters regularly - that does make a difference. And try and wash jeans and hoodies on their own. If they are in with other stuff, it really slows down the drying process. Sometimes, it just behaves itself as well and you get a spell of it drying things quite reliably. I just to to try to be quite organised with washing. But still better than not having a dryer. And, I'm sure, our electricity bill went down when we started using it.

Mine takes 3 hours for a full washing machine load too. I think it's more Eco as more time means less heat, or something.

Yes I have used the instructions they are on the right settings. Like SwedishEdith I only tend to use Heavy Cotton and Cupboard dry settings as everything else takes hours. I have 4 teenagers so a load with just 1 pair of jeans in is rare (almost impossible)

Interesting others have similar experience.. I can;t say I like it a lot.

Ok, if you bought it in oct you need to be swift if you're going to send it back.

There's no point keeping an appliance that makes the job harder.

Heat pump condensers take waaaay longer than normal condensers - that's why I didn't get one. Much cheaper to run though.
