Can I soften muslin cloths?

I've got loads of muslin cloths which we use on a daily basis but over time they've got really rough. I use fabric conditioner and have tumble dried them but it doesn't seem to have helped at all Hmm

Does anyone have any tips that they've used before?

Thank you Smile

I'd try a hot wash with no detergent or softener as a build up of both can make things feel rough.

my son sucks his muzzy so i wash them all the time i don't use fabric softener and i tumble dry them they are soft sometimes too soft for him as he likes them crunchy so i put them on the radiator/washing line

Use half a cup of white vinegar as a final rinse to get rid of any calcium deposits. Then tumble dry.
