What mince pie thread?
Have I missed something very amusing, or is this reallly about mince pies?

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 11:24

No it really was about mince pies.
It was last year, and excellent.

BrandyTutter · 15/12/2006 11:25

if it's about which shop's is best i would say waitrose are ok and duchy originals are rank

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 11:27

Yep it was along those lines.

Mince pies and xmas puds; same rule applies: the cheaper ones seem to taste better for some reason. Expensive ones seem to be filled with a high proportion of sand. I'd love someone to exlain this to me!

BrandyTutter · 15/12/2006 11:34

you know, mustrunmore, you're right. the plain red box waitrose ones are infintely nicer (cinnamon-y and more moist) than their swanky all butter ones

mustrunmorenakedthroughthesnow · 15/12/2006 11:38

Good. I'm not mad then!
This week, we had an early xmas dinner with friends. Had a Tesco value pud, that I actually bought last Jan in the sales. It was really nice, and only cost us 24p!!! (and still months in date, before you ask1)

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 11:49

Come on where is is that thread?

Someone must know.

I'm supposed to buying them for a party this savo

not sure last year's would help - bet recipes change year on year

the waitrose red box ones are very good

KTreePee · 15/12/2006 12:35

Yes had some of Waitrose's shortcrust pastry ones last night and they are definitely the best I've had so far...

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 12:36

I thought it was HappyDaddy? And yes, was v funny.

MistleToo · 15/12/2006 12:37

No sure is was the one who's gone to Canada - bloody hell I've got a mental block what's his name

MistleToo · 15/12/2006 12:37

CouldEquallyHaveBeenAnAardvark · 15/12/2006 12:38

That's the fellow!

gscrym · 15/12/2006 12:40

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 13:04

I have an amazing recipe for mince crumble which is a nice alternative to mince pies, can be eaten hot or cold, has a pastry base with a crumble topping, if anyone wants it let me know

BrandyTutter · 15/12/2006 17:42

WhyDooLittleStarsShine · 15/12/2006 19:19

OP posts:
DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 15/12/2006 21:16

Tis in food and was bumped today which was bizarre beyond belief because today is the first day I've been on this site for about three months.

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 15/12/2006 21:19

and it was me. I'm too good to be happydaddy and not good enough to be hub2dee.

moondog · 15/12/2006 21:20

Have you been awol Daddycool?

People were talking about you (nad lamenting your ansence t'other day.)

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 15/12/2006 21:26

yes. i emigrated back to canada. I've only just got a job and internet installed in my new house. well i got the job a couple weeks back... and the internet about three weeks ago but I only just got a wireless router. before I was sitting on the floor and I couldn't be bothered to much with the internet other than pay bills and check the weather. i'd start a 'dc's back' thread but I can't be arsed

moondog · 15/12/2006 21:28

Ah splendid.

Are you glad to be home?
Is dw/p British?

DaddyCoolLickingAtYourToes · 15/12/2006 21:35

ummm, well it's ok. dw is british. ds has a blast no matter where he is so he's ok.

only time will tell. we're giving it a trial for at least a year to see how we like it.

technically it's better for us and there are some major things here that stand out as being better but the UK is simply 'cooler'. it just is. In the end, it'll come down to which place we feel the happiest.
