Just curious as to who else uses them, I love the padded ones adds that little bit of extra comfort! Also so handy to be able to whip off and wash if anything were to leak on the bed!

Yes !!!!

To avoid a tank smell from a leaked nappy or a tea spillage going off

Definitely worth it especially for kids

Have you ever seen a dust mite ?!!

BooAvenue · 16/12/2015 16:36

Goodness yes. I shudder at the thought of not using one!

longingforfun · 16/12/2015 16:45

Kennington, what's a dustmite got to with it? Just curious.

I always use mattress protectors.

Alicewasinwonderland · 16/12/2015 16:46

always. Everybody sweats at night, I don't think a bedsheet is anywhere near enough to protect the mattress!

Dust mites are going to live in your bed whether you use a mattress protector or not. They're everywhere. In your sofa, duvet, pillows, carpets. Best way to keep the population down is to regularly air your bedroom and vacuum your mattress once a fortnight.

rabbit123 · 16/12/2015 20:01

In answer to the question, yes we use them. We bought new beds about 3 years ago and not using a protector would void the guarantee

dottygamekeeper · 16/12/2015 21:39

Always use mattress protectors and pillow protectors too. DH sweats a lot, and without it, mattress and pillows would be disgustingly stained.

cozietoesie · 16/12/2015 22:07

And buy new mattresses regularly if you can afford them. I spent most of my life on dilapidated (and probably mite filled) things propped up with cushions or folded material under the most saggy bits. The first new mattress I had was a revelation to me.

Costacoffeeplease · 16/12/2015 22:24

Yes, sheet, protector, mattress topper, mattress

BumWad · 16/12/2015 22:27

Yes of course

Yes highly recommend soak and sleep for their padded ones.

WhoTheFuckIsSimon · 18/12/2015 14:57

Can someone recommend me a mattress protector? One that is solid enough to do the job but not too deep that it makes it an arse to put sheets on?

Dd has a fluffy one from Dunhelm but it's a nightmare getting the sheets on as the elastic corner bands for the protector keep flicking off.

Xpost. Will check those out, thanks.
