Do you have gas boiler cover?

If so, would you recommend the supplier and who's it with? I've just spent a week trying to get someone to look at, diagnose and repair my combi boiler. 1 week with no central heating or hot water is not a position I ever want to be in again, so I'm looking to get a boiler care package. Any recommendations would be greatly received. TIA.

We are with BG, think we pay about £32 per month. That covers boiler, electrics and plumbing though and some other bits outside.
Boiler gets serviced each year and usually come out ASAP if You have a problem.

Nope we have looked at it and don't find it to be worth the money, it's far too expensive. We had our boiler serviced recently and it was only £68. I'm sure if you check all the conditions attached to a service plan your actually paying for ... Nothing.

Ours is also with British gas and covers heating, plumbing and drains and electrics.

We pay about £70 annually to have it serviced. It's more the availability of getting someone to come out when there's a fault, without having to wait forever. Peace of mind doesn't come cheap, I just don't want to be without hot water ever again!

Put an electric shower in that way if your boiler breaks down you've always got hot water.

We are with British Gas, and I've often wondered about wether to cancel it. They've always come out immediately though, on occasion even on the same day. It's the availability that would worry me the most to be honest, we know an amazing plumber but because he's so good, he's always busy!

I haven't got it what they quoted me was nearly the equivalent of a new boiler every other year!

British gas £19 a month. Invaluable. Come out same day.

british gas here too, never had a problem with them and as they are so good we've upgraded to insure all our services with them...in fact we discovered that if you take out the electrical cover then they will come and install light fittings etc (that you buy) without charge, which is an excellent service when you have a victorian house with bizarre electrics.

Nope dh is a gas engineer and we have a supply of parts incase we need them.

Groovee when i was a teenager my friends dad was a boiler installer and his boiler at home had been broken for years, something to do with 'doctors make the worst patients' type thing was his excuse..im impressed that your DH keeps on top of yours

Yes always - even when it's covered by mfg's guarantee!

New boiler in 2004, broke down about every 2 months for years 2-3; fortunately had British Gas cover finally sorted it as a pressure issue.

In 2015 another new boiler this time continual thermostat/ temperature problems, npower sorted it (when the installer couldn't!).

In the meantime MIL also had a new boiler installed - noisy and breaking down - we ended up taking the installers to court and they agreed to reinstall correctly.

So yes, I always take out boiler cover - the Moneysavingexpert website has more info about what to look for.

Which is why we are with British Gas. I'm sure we pay over the odds, but the service we have had from them has always been excellent. They came out in 12" snow 5 years ago. They have come out on a freezing Easter Sunday. They either come out the same day or within 24 hours and in my experience it is a service worth paying for.

We have HomeServe boiler plus all the other stuff cover.

I'll have to look at A N Other provider next year, you get year 1 cheap. But having had the kitchen floor jackhammered open and some near misses with water pipes, house is new to us but is hundreds of years old and I hate to think how much it could cost, if it put its mind to it.

We have BG , plus plumbing and electrics , it probably isn't worth what it costs but it's worth paying for the peace of mind . I've always found the service excellent . My DM has the same cover and a couple of years ago when we were away in December she had an issue and they had to turn her gas off for 2 days and dig the drive up as well as work indoors and they gave her heaters to use and really looked after her , we were very pleased with the service .

We are also with BG. We have had many positive experiences with them over the years as well as one sh*t one (for which we were offered financial compensation - not enough in my opinion, but something).
Overall though, if you can afford it, its worth it. We have the Homecare 400 plus some applicance cover, and whilst we pay quite a lot each month, I feel its worth it. Dynorod (who they subcontract for the plumbing and drains side of things) are pretty great.
When the toilet was leaking all over the floor last month, there was someone here within two hours.
When our kitchen lights bit the dust, someone came the same day, and replaced it with a fluorescent light which was much better at no extra charge, as he had it in the van.
They will come and replace a light bulb if you want them to . When our water tank started leaking everywhere a few years back, they were with us within an hour and replaced the tank a couple of days later as they had to order a new one. I wish home insurance was as efficient (took us weeks to get the floors done)
