OP posts:
CranberryJelley · 12/12/2006 08:02

Morning all.
I've had my usual early start, and have washed up, and cleaned out the cupboard under the stairs already.

Won't get much else done, as I'll be watching the school nativity play this am, and walking to town to tryand do a bit more Christmas shopping this afternoon.

morning all.

I wont be FLYing much but wanted to say thanks for all your well wishes.

I have cleared all the post hospital debris and am on top of the washing already though

I'll try and keep up with the news but wanted to say 'hooray' for tort's Christmas !

Take care all

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 12/12/2006 09:27

Good morning!

It's my last child free morning before Christmas so I'm planning a big clear up downstairs;

Hoover everywhere
Mop all mopable floors
Dust throughout
Put washing in
Write international Christmas cards
Clean and shine kitchen
sort out shoe cupboard (it's about time I put summer sandals away I think)
If time, tidy utility room (keep putting this off but it desperatly needs doing)

I did todays mission at the weekend so that's OK - I can never get all the watermarks off our shower door though- what does anyone else use that's successful?

May need to shop a little more this afternoon too as dd needs last bits for making presents for her teachers but we can go together after school.

satinshoes you're doing really well! Those pics you posted are so lovely

Tort I'm really glad Christmas is sorted for you now - enjoy it

See you all later x

FLAMEinEckItsYuleAgain · 12/12/2006 09:50

Well... I got up, got the DC sorted, took DD to preschool... to find that they were all there for the panto trip that DD wasn't going on!

Feeling very very mean because she was all excited about preschool and cried when I brought her home.

I'll sort my list later - a bit deflated right now

EllieHsMum · 12/12/2006 09:57

flame give dd a big hug from me & ellie. one to you too[hugs]

EllieHsMum · 12/12/2006 10:13

Hey shouldbe good luck with the list.
Hello satinshoes impressed that you are posting so soon after the birth. Hope you are resting when you can. Give your girls a big hug from Ellie.
So excited post has just arrived & the xmas tree decoration I ordered for Ellie has arrived. Its a wee boot with 'my first christmas 2006' Ellie's name Love Mummy & Daddy Always.

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 12/12/2006 10:51

Thanks EllieHsMum - I'm getting there...bit bored of housework now though so am going to have cup of coffee and write those international cards that should have gone in the post yesterday.

Hoover everywhere - Done
Mop all mopable floors - done
Dust throughout - half done
Put washing in - done
Write international Christmas cards - doing next
Clean and shine kitchen
sort out shoe cupboard (it's about time I put summer sandals away I think)
If time, tidy utility room (keep putting this off but it desperatly needs doing)

Your Christmas deco for Ellie sounds cute. I've got my two some little angels with their names on this year, I'll probably give them to them at the weekend when we put up our tree.

Flame {{{{hugs}}}} I'm sorry your day hasn't started too well - hope it improves x

EllieHsMum · 12/12/2006 11:43

Shouldbe angels should lovely. Where did you get them from?
My housework duties have come to a complete stand still Ellie is still unwell & wants to sit on my knee. Which is fine we will just spend the rest of the day cuddling & I can type with one hand on MN. We have a Dr's appointment at 430.

EllieHsMum · 12/12/2006 11:44

oops angels sound lovely, thats what i get for using 1 hand & not checking

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 12/12/2006 11:59

Ahhh - hope Ellie is soon feeling better. It's horrid that they're always poorly in this run up to Christmas, hopefully she'll get over it quickly x

The angels are tiny and came from a little bookshop near us, I don't know if they're available everywhere but I'd guess they would be...I'm happy to look for an Ellie (is that short for anything?) and post you one if you like? My email is - shouldbedoinghousework at hotmail . co . uk

I'm thinking I may give a couple of the angels to the awkward friend I mentioned last week who's moving to USA....

IvortheEngine · 12/12/2006 18:08

Hello all. Not much to say from me as I've been in work most of today. Have done some housework though and am off to do some more.

satin Lovely to have you post, but make sure you are resting enough, won't you?

tort So pleased to hear your Christmas plans.

To all who post a list of jobs to be done and then put "done" on the revised list later in the day - WELL DONE!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2006 18:45

Hello.
Nothing done today really!
Took DD1 to pre-school,went to town,came home,picked DD1 up,had lunch then picked DS's up!
Then cooked tea before DS2 had to go back to school for his play.xp1 offered to take him.

I still feel rough! Throat is really sore. Im sneezing too and when i sneeze it feels like my throats been ripped out!!
DD2 has a temp and says mouth hurts.
DD1 was complaining of ear ache and poor DS2 now has infection in the other ear.

Maybe we will all be well for xmas day.

IvortheEngine · 12/12/2006 19:39

Yes, get all the illness over with now, tort.

Just a quickie to say that IvortheEngine will be disappearing to be replaced with a new improved version - not! Seriously though, dd knows my name and so I'll reappear within a day or two. Can you all not remark on it, please, incase she tracks me down in my new guise. She's not quite a teenager yet, but I don't want her to read it all in years to come, or now, for that matter. It's 99% boring I'm sure but.....

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2006 19:40

Ok ivor.
My DS's know my name on here to.I hope they haven't told their Dad the site name and my name!!

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 12/12/2006 19:44

Just so I can feel proud...

Hoover everywhere - Done
Mop all mopable floors - done
Dust throughout - half done
Put washing in - done, and hung to dry
Write international Christmas cards - done but forgot to post- agh!
Clean and shine kitchen - done
sort out shoe cupboard - done
If time, tidy utility room - still not done!

So, have had a successful day and feel pretty proud of how nice the house looks this evening - let's hope I can try and keep it this way now...
Still have spare room to sort properly but PIL are only staying one night over Christmas now so I can hide the mess a bit more easily if necessary!
The utility room is awful but will have to be tackled another day too.

Poor you tort - it's about time you started to feel better, and the rest of your family x

IvortheEngine · 12/12/2006 19:45

If you think they do know the site name, you could do a new name with your initials i.e. TheOtherRudolphsaTwit. Then we'll all know it's you. What you do when Christmas is over, though ... ... ...

IvortheEngine · 12/12/2006 19:48

Well done shouldbe! Are you near me so you can come and give me some tips?

shouldbedeckingthehalls · 12/12/2006 19:54

Thanks Ivor - I never usually have a sense of achievement at the end of the day so am feeling pleased this evening. Had a big tidy up upstairs on Subday too so the house is really looking pretty good. Some of it is superficial (sp?) as there's still a lot of stuff in cupboards and drawers but at least the surface is better so I can (hopefully) tackle a cupboard/drawer at a time without feeling I'm just adding to all the usual mess! Just hope dh and dc help clear up after themselves too...

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2006 20:41

Im not to worried yet! I don't really care if xp1 reads it.I have a feeling xp2 already does!
All in bed now.DD1 was cryimg just now saying her throat hurt. Its never ending!
I have my flu jab tomorrow. Will they still do it?
Also have mother and toddlers xmas party and then DS1's play.DS2 is in it too!
Busy day coming so i hope we feel ok tomorrow.

HN hope you and DD are feeling better today.

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2006 20:54

Oh bugger! I have just remembered i need to look in the loft for a small gift for DD's for toddlers party. We have to provide a gift for santa to give our DC! I couldn't find anything in my small town so now i will have to look in the presents i have bought then replace them if i ever have enough money!

ISawTortoiseKissingSantaClaus · 12/12/2006 21:55

Ok, been in the loft and presents wrapped and labelled ready for tomorrow!

I suppose i should be preparing DS's lunch boxes before tomorrow really!

CranberryJelley · 12/12/2006 22:16

I've splashed out on school dinners for the dds this week Just as well as we had no cooker for 3 days, so beans on toast and soup for tea. New cooker is connected and I've made a tray of buns to test it.

Not done anything at home, though. I'll try and do a bit in the morning tomorrow, but from 1-8pm I'm going to be ferrying children to/from school/brownies/rainbows/christmas play. days like that I could really do with a car!
