How to get rid of lime scale on shower door?

Our shower door (glass) is covered in limes ale. I've tried scrubbing with lime scale remover and bleach all to no avail. Any recommendation? I want a shower door that is squeaky clean with not a spot of lime scale in sight.

Are you able to take the door off its hinges and lie it down? Maybe the limescale remover is running off the vertical surface before it has a chance to work, and would do the job better if the surface is laid down flat.

Vinegar on a regular basis does it.

Mine seems so ingrained it won't shift. Tried all the above. This is despite having a water softener!

White vinegar on one of those sponges with a green scratchy side. Work the vinegar in and leave for an hour or two. Remove with a steam cleaner.

You may need to repeat a second time if it's really bad.

Kitchen roll is your friend here. Get a roll of cheap thin kitchen roll and 'stick' it to the shower door with your lime scale remover spray IYSWIM. This way the lime scale remover stays in contact with the glass for long enough to dissolve the lime scale. Leave it until the paper is dry and then remove the paper by using the shower. You might have to repeat this if there is a large accumulation of lime scale.
After it is clean, then use one of those daily shower sprays to stop the scale build up in the future.

Some kind of acid and something to make it less runny. So a foaming cleaner or some kind of concoction made with lemon juice. If you can soak something in lemon juice/vinegar and attach it to the door it will help as prolonged contact makes a difference.

You could try a thick toilet cleaner, too.

Then in future - prevention. Get one of those window cleaner squeegie things, and give the shower a wipe down either after you shower, or with a squirt of anti-limescale or a citrus/vinegar based solution 2-3 times a week.

Also works with mould and mildew remover. Tear strips of kitchen roll, put on mouldy area, spray on mould and mildew spray and leave until dry.

Scoured Mumsnet & tried every tip I could find. Nothing worked on our filthy old inherited screen. Even bought a glass polishing kit that you use on a drill ! In the end we gave up & bought a new screen.

Keeping the new one clean using a window vac after each use.
Sorry to be so negative & hope you have some success but in the end it was cheaper to replace than spend a fortune on products which just didn't work for us !

I once used Astonish Oven and Cookware Cleaner on my shower door as a last resort. It's the paste that comes in a little tub.

Rubbed it on with a damp sponge and rinsed off, worked beautifully.

Thanks for all the tips. As pp have said, the main issue is the vertical surface which makes the limes ale remover run down before it does its job. I have tried Cilit bang, but I think this needs something much stronger.

Also came on to say Bar Keepers Friend. Repeat until clean.

Someone on here recommended using a magic eraser for this ...
I would try that first (with caution) ...I had great success using one to remove a limescale/soap scum build up.
Failing that you can get 'concentrated condiment essence' - it is basically more acidic vinegar (acetic acid), places like chip shops buy it and dilute it to use as vinegar...
You will need to dilute it - it is strong stuff - don't use it neat!
The stuff I get is 80% acetic acid - vinegar is less than 20% -most commonly 4%. I use it at about 20% as weedkiller and to clean the loo (as water in pan dilutes it further).

I'm another one that uses viakal.

Those silver scourer things in packs of four remove linescale easily and don't scratch. I know it sounds unbelievable. I was told this by a plumber who recommended it for marble with linescale.

Limescale!

Viakal also my favorite, it does actually work well unlike some others.
