can I hand wash my scarf?

It says dry clean only
It's 70%merino and 30%cashmere.

If I (or MIL!) were to hand wash it, would it be ruined?

(It's a cable knit traditional scarf as opposed to a wrap, if that makes a difference.)

Blondie, I've hand-washed a cashmere sweater and separately a merino wool one. Close enou'? Both in cold water with Woolite. Has to be cold water, right. Don't wring dry - can ruin the shape. Smush most of the soapy water out, rinse in cold, smush again, then lay it out flat on a towel and roll it up. Press the roll, then unroll, and place flat on a dry towel. Turn it over after a few hours drying. Hot water or dryer will shrink it right up. Avoid. I know that!

Spoke to MIL (my laundry expert!) and she was confident she could hand wash it too. Fingers crossed it comes back fitting me, not 3yr old DD

Just make sure you don't use biological powder!

I think MIL has specialist wool stuff Purple. (I am quiet a capable person normally but hand washing isn't my strong point!).

Why is your mil washing your scarf for you?
