How many programs do you actually use on your washing machine?

I was just putting a load of washing on - in a 3 year old Bosch - and it occurred to me that I really only use two programs on the thing, with maybe some added 'reduced speed' and 'reduced time'. Yet I swear that I would probably need 10 minutes to work out how many it really has including all the various combinations of speed, temperature and time etc etc.

Does everyone else use the full range?

I use cottons 60, cottons 40, mixed load (occasionally) and woollens (occasionally). I too wonder what sort of obsessive would use all the programmes on a modern washing machine!

It annoys the hell out of me that my Bosch has a programme called "darks wash". I feel like being rebellious and putting lights or colours in on that programme, just to show it who is boss Grin.

I sometimes wonder whether I should use other programs to stop the machine getting bored or forgetting that it has them! I'm a sad case. Grin

I only use two - synthetics and air refresh Blush

AnyoneButAndre · 03/11/2015 17:21

About 7 that I use regularly - make that 12 if you count using the Speed Perfect option as a different setting. And I adjust the spin settings and then give an extra spin without a rinse at the end, which is separate cycle. I am the person who Bosch has in mind when designing their machines.

mrssmith79 · 03/11/2015 17:46

I use 1 Blush out of 15 options.
Will sometimes use the Quick Wash button if I'm in a rush or washing stuff that's not too dirty.
I'm dying to use my Special Shoes setting but can't quite decide what qualifies as special Confused

derektheladyhamster · 03/11/2015 17:49

about 5 different programmes, with various temperatures, sometimes with eco wash sometimes without. Sometimes with no spin so I can do a fast spin

rabbit123 · 03/11/2015 18:58

Cottons 40, 60 & 95 for darks, bed sheets, towels and whites.
Synthetics (minimum iron on my washer) 40 & 60 for lights, acrylics and a set of easy iron bedding we have.
Delicates 40 for woolies

I sometimes use express 40 if I have just a few items that need washing, or when DD demands to wear a certain item of clothing that isn't yet washed.

Artandco · 03/11/2015 19:01

I think I use most of mine

Temperatures ranging from 30-95 depending on what's being washed, plus whether cottons/ delicates/ wool wash.

Then pre wash if needed or extra rinse

Kim82 · 03/11/2015 19:04

I use mixed load 40 (for coloureds & whites)
Dark care 40 (dark clothes)
Quick wash 30 (just for freshening up)
Cottons 60 (towels and bedding)

Gatekeeper · 03/11/2015 19:05

cotton 40 & 60
synthetics 40
wool wash
extra spin

anotherbusymum14 · 03/11/2015 19:06

1 option

anotherbusymum14 · 03/11/2015 19:07

... But I do vary the temperature for different types of fabric and colours

florentina1 · 03/11/2015 19:42

I have no idea what the different settings do. Anyone care to enlighten me?

CremeEggThief · 03/11/2015 19:48

Cottons 40 for most stuff.
Cottons 60 for towels.
Synthetic 60 for bedding.

Occasional wool.
Occasional whites (mainly for maintenance washes).
Occasional eco programme (trainers, lunch bags, anything that isn't supposed to be machine washed).
Very occasional allergies wash (duvets).

CremeEggThief · 03/11/2015 19:50

Just looking now. Never used anti stain 40, baby or delicates.

LIZS · 03/11/2015 19:57

4 or 5 . Regularly 50/40normal/40 delicate/30 worn once and the occasional 60.

RenterNomad · 03/11/2015 20:17

Mostly, I use cottons 40 and 60 quick washes, 30 express wash (15 mins), separate spin. This weekend, I was dyeing, so used a 40 full cycle wash (and 90 to do the final clean of the machine).

LibrariesGaveUsP0wer · 03/11/2015 20:19

Most of them. Except 'mixed load' (don't really get that one ) and one called shirts (again, confused me!)

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeG0es · 03/11/2015 20:29

Bosch here too.

Cottons Eco for sheets and towels
Cottons for maintenance wash
Mixed load for clothes generally
Super quick for freshening up / emergency washing
Wool or silk occasionally

Also tweak temps and spin speeds. It is pretty versatile. My happiest moment with it was discovering that you can deactivate the cycle finished beeps.

Mintyy · 03/11/2015 21:14

Kim82
I think "mixed load" is for different types of fabrics, rather than colours and whites.

Mintyy · 03/11/2015 21:15

"Shirts" ??

I mean who the eff are they to tell us what to put in our washing machine?

Kim82 · 03/11/2015 21:16

Is it? I just chose it because it didn't take 2.5 hours to finish the cycle! Grin. It works and gets the clothes clean so that'll do for me.

ENtertainmentAppreciated · 03/11/2015 21:18

Delicates - just occasionally
40 speedy and longer
60
95

That's all.

SwedishEdith · 03/11/2015 21:21

Have been looking at machines recently and saw one that had 'Red wine' and 'Jeans' as options.

I've never separated my synthetics from my cottons.

So, 40, 60, quick wash, cold and refresh when I've left clothes on the machine overnight.

Qwebec · 03/11/2015 21:25

normal
bulky
whites
rarely delicates

always with cold water, used to live in a place where the washer only had cold water access and noticed that even in the dead of winter everything came out clean so sticked with it.
