Fixing electrical stuff

We have a pair of touch operated lamps which both seem to have stopped working within about 8 months of each other. They weren't expensive, only from B & Q and probably about 8 years ago but they are just right for us, colour/size wise and I'd really like to get them fixed.

They were so cheap to start with, they don't owe us anything as far as value for money goes but are these things repairable ?

Will it be more cost effective to just bin them and buy replacements ?

Thanks in advance for any advice/suggestions.
