A curtain rod type of thing for hanging a voile curtain?

I bought two voile curtains and put one on my front door, which used to have a net curtain so I already had a curtain wire for that one. But the other voile is for my bathroom and I can't seem to find anywhere to buy another curtain wire.

I've seen tension rods for sale but the voile has to hang outside of the bathroom window recess as I couldn't get one to fit inside it, strange sized windows in my house, so the tension rods are no use.

So I need a wire of some sort. I've looked in Argos, lakeland, my granny's littlewoods catalogue but nobody seems to sell them anymore. There used to be a shop in town which sold materials, fabric, wools etc and probably these wires but it's closed down now and I'm totally stuck.

My bathroom is all decorated and looking lovely just needs the Voile put up and it's done.

Does anyone have any ideas? Please?

Do you have a market? There is normally a stall that does those type of things.

Failing that, you can get some very thin metal curtain poles now, I don't know if that would be an option?

No we don't have a market either, I live in a really useless town. I was looking at the thin metal poles today as I was resigning myself to the fact that I may have to just get one of those. but thought I'd check with mumsnet first.

might need to take a trip to my nearest John Lewis then, think that might be Glasgow, may have to wait until after christmas.

GiraffeGotTheLastRoomInTheInn · 04/12/2006 01:08

How long does it need to be? I might actually have one not in use in the loft.

(meant to say)

you're welcome to it.

Wilkinsons used to sell them too.

Neena28 · 04/12/2006 07:44

Dunelm are good for that kind of thing too if you have one?

NannyL · 04/12/2006 09:32

wilkinsons / fabric ware house

satinshoes · 04/12/2006 09:34

Rosebys.

if you're hanging voile in the bathroom, be sure to take it down regularly, wash and dry it, as it will get mouldy otherwise (been there, done that!)

Stockingsofdinosaurs · 04/12/2006 12:11

Ahem, B&Q do curtain wire! You buy longer than you need and cut it with big scissors, then screw the hooks in.

Linnet · 06/12/2006 23:18

ok, haven't been on line since my last post on this thread. Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. I asked someone at work and she suggested Rosebys so will be heading there tomorrow as we have one of those in my two horse town.

We also have a B&Q and I didn't know that they sold curtain wire else I would have looked there, thanks stockingsofdinosaurs.
