anyone washed a handbag in the machine?

Just wondering if anyone had washed a handbag in the washing machine. It's a sort of shiny canvas with patent leather trim. Have seen on you tube people washing coach handbags in the machine so so tempted to try as it is cream and filthy. My into real concern is screwing the washing machine as the bag is unusable as it stands anyway. Advice appreciated

I washed a Kipling bag in the machine. No leather trims tho. Can you tie it into a pillow case to protect your machine?

Yes, I wash my handbags in the machine. The last bags were cotton canvas rucksack types which shrank a little bit plus the colours faded slightly - I have also washed pleather bags and they came up well.

I'm not sure how you could protect the patent leather trims?

I went for it and came out fine. The patent trim is as new the canvas bit is a bit melted maybe in places but not too bad (in hindsight maybe a cold wash would have been a good idea!) Will see what it does when dry. On the whole it is much cleaner tho so glad I did it!
