Getting a cleaner

Status - wannabe mummy second month of trying ...

In June we moved into a much larger house (4 bedroom, 3 reception, 2 bathroom plus study and huge kitchen with utility area) I know, very very lucky to have a lovely home, very grateful etc HOWEVER the house work is twice what I'm used to doing. I have decided to get a cleaner once a month for 4 hours to do a big clean including windows, fridge, oven, leather suite etc. I mentioned this to my friend and she thinks it's terrible that I'm getting a cleaner and that I should do it myself. I think it's easy for her to say when she's in a 2 bedroom, 1 reception house and is at college part time compared to my full time work....

Anyway long story short how many of you have cleaners and if you don't, why not?

We have, and I'm a SAHM with kids who are now teens. It's great . I love her, she's been with us for 16 years.

Throughthickandthin01 - how often does yours come? I thought about getting a weekly service but it would be 2 hours a week so £20 every week compared to £40 a month x

She comes weekly or four hours. (5 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms, 3 receptions, large kitchen/dining room, and she does about an hour of ironing). I do feel a bit guilty about having her now as I have more time on my hands, but she's so lovely I like the fact that she can rely on us for a job. I might cut her hours a bit, if she doesn't mind.

If I were you I think I'd start monthly, or fortnightly and see how you go. It would be easier to increase her hours, rather than reduce them I think.

I think your friend should mind her own business! What's it to her if you have a cleaner? I would love a cleaner but can't afford it right now... I'd have one like a shot if I could, just to do the bigger jobs like windows, the oven, woodwork etc...

I'd love one. Oh won't have stranger rummaging in him business!!

Please can I get one to clean our conservatory?
