Disguising ugly external gas meters

Very definition of first world problem, but our gas meter box is distressing me. It's just a bit of an eyesore on the front of the house. One of the big, creamy plastic ones.

I've had a look online but the official ones seem to be a version of the same...has anyone successfully disguised theirs? The issue is it sticks out so far that if I put a plant in front of it then it'll look a bit odd...so after a replacement box that is a bit more aesthetically pleasing, or something I could stick on it.

you can paint the plastic meter boxes, after scrubbing them clean with a green nylon scourer. Use oil based (not water) non-drip gloss and a single full coat.

Over time the shine will weather away. The paint lasts about 20 years before needing another coat.

I'd suggest a dull colour that will tone with your brickwork or render.

Good idea, thank you!
