ChemDry versus regular hot water carpet cleaning. Any experience to share?

I had my dining room carpet cleaned in April with a hot water plus foam cleaner. I was a bit 'meh' about the result. Is the ChemDry process any better 'cos they want double the money!!??

I used them once and it didn't get the ink stains out of the carpet that I specifically wanted out.
So in my opinion no.

Fortunately nothing as challenging as an ink stain just general grime. Anybody else got any experiences to share?

My parents have used them and were impressed - used them again at a later date.

I used them for some old woollen oriental rugs, I don't think it was anything special but they used two men and a machine where one person could have done the job. Maybe that's where the extra cost comes from.

Chemdry were really good for us. There were a couple of stains they couldn't get out, but overall the carpets were much better.
The carpets didn't attract dirt afterwards either.
